Cortana And Toy Robots Combined Into Nanabot

Along with its high intellectual abilities even, windows phone’s voice auxiliary, cortana, is nothing greater than a lot of animation talking to you. A project by Indiegogo – named Nanabot – offers something different than Cortana. By joining the excellence of WowWee’s robo toys with technical abilities of Lumia phone by Nokia, the inventor Robert Oschler made the combination so unique which is quite fascinating. The robot does not have any control by itself and the Cortana doesn’t have a body, so Oschler planned a mixture which is yet to be invented but it has been named Nanabot already. The question that arises is that although it is a great idea, the name of the project is good but what it will do and how it will work?

indiegogo-pleo

Oschler planned a Windows mobile app along with codebase which will be formed similar to the voice recognition system of the Cortana and he also devised Smartphone-powered robot system named RoboME. The application portion would run on Lumia that would be attached to WowWee robot. For the robo, it will allow plenty of tricks to be accessible at a time. Some specialty of the nanabot would be that it will have the ability to play unique games with you. Your room would be guarded by it, it would ask questions to the people who are they and when they got in. It would be able to remember DVDs and books that you will show her, it would be able to identify even your cat’s face and so many other fun features it will have.

If Oschler achieves the amount of funds he requires to complete his goal, then he thinks of launching open-source toolkit which will make it easy for developers to produce RoboME applications. It will help in buying and playing easily with RoboMe robot and a windows mobile phone. By using Oschler’s toolkit, a developer will be able to control RoboMe’s actions, infrared object sensors, core LED and auditory entry. It would be quite interesting that what this Nanabot will become in future how far it will go. Still the responsive robots which will be moving around us are really far to come in future.

The Lawsuit Battle Between Google and Apple Comes to an End

Apple and Google were battling for the patent in courtroom for quite some time. It was expected that this battle between the two technology giants would continue for one more year. However, both companies have finally decided to end the prolonged legal battle. This decision came when both companies realized that they should now try to reduce the ongoing rift between them as there are many other important issues that need to be addressed. Apple and Google know that they are the top two companies of Silicon Valley so they agreed to come to a point where a mutual agreement would benefit both of them.

patent1

During the last few years, the market of consumer technology has rapidly grown up. Both Apple and Google have a big share in this market. It is quite common that the top-rated companies often have lawsuit cases against each other. Nevertheless, it was observed by many that Apple and Google are focusing more on legal battle for the patent instead of giving more attention to the development of the products. On last Friday, a great development was made. The two companies issued a joint statement saying that from now on they will be focusing more on the development of their current and new products instead of what they were doing before:

From now on Google and Apple have decided not to continue with the legal proceedings for the patent against each other. At the same time, the two companies have come to an agreement for joining hands for improving some part of the patent.

At the moment, both Apple and Google are heading in the right direction by ending the legal battle between them, and preparing how to deal with the patent issues in the future. However, it doesn’t seem that both companies will reach to a point where they will support each other to use the technology. The position of both companies is quite strange; both of them are rivals because one has the iOS while the other has the Android. Therefore, it is not strange to know that their deal doesn’t include any type of merger or adjustment. It is more like a ceasefire.

This news is a great progress because both Apple and Google are the major companies of the industry, and their decision to stop lawsuit battle is a relief for many. However, there is really nothing in the news for an average consumer yet. An average consumer has great expectations from both companies to announce something that would benefit him as well.

patent2

For quite some time, Apple and Google have spent a great amount of money on the legal system and patent lawyers. Now both of them can utilize their time and money on developing new products and improving their services. After this great progress, everyone is hoping for the same type of deal between Apple and Samsung so another dispute comes to end, and things can move forward.

Pebble dominates the smart wearables sector in Q1 2014:Canalys

From Smart Phones to Tablets, NotePads and Phablets and now to Wearable Bands, the market for smart gadgets just keeps growing. Buzzed as the next big thing is the technology market, the Wearable Bands, both basic and smart versions, are small devices worn on the body, monitoring and providing statistics on a variety of attributes, especially on fitness, lifestyle and health.

Canalys, an independent analyst company covering technology sectors, in its recently published country level quarterly estimates, expects a total of 2.7 million wearable bands shipped worldwide in Q1 2014, with smart bands making up close to 500,000 units.  Pebble Technology leads the market for the smart wearable sectors, followed by Sony and Samsung, with shares of 35%, 29% and 23% respectively. The interesting stat from the popular research firm’s report is that Fitbit holds a whopping 50% market share and is dominating the basic (fitness) bands segment with its wearable products like Flex,Zip,One,Force and Aria Bands.

canalysbands

Pebble started as a crowd-funded project on Kickstarter and they surely didn’t expect it to be so successful. Pebble and Pebble Steel are definitely one of the best smartwatches out there at this time. They’re about to get some stiff competition when Android Wear devices from LG,Motorola and others coming later this year. Apple is also entering smartwatch arena with iWatch, but for now they’re leading the pack.

But Canalys warned that market share in the nascent smartwatch/smart band segment can be very fluid and will likely “continue to change frequently as new products are released and will continue to do so throughout 2014.”

Pebble is doing a great job so far and we hope they’ll continue on doing that. Does it surprise you? Do you own a Pebble or maybe another smartwatch?

LG G Pad 7.0 hands-on images and specs unveiled

A couple of weeks ago, LG announced three new members of its G Pad tablet family to be exhibited at MedPi 2014 in France. Now we’re getting a glimpse of one of these, the G Pad 7.0 to be exact, and rumored details for this device may sound a bit disappointing.

LG has operated some very drastic alterations in terms of design to the G Pad 7.0 and the 7  incher is quite different when compared to the G Pad 8.3. Instead of the aluminium black, the new LG G Pad 7.0 is made of plastic and thicker than LG’s 8.3-inch slate. The speakers are now located on back, at the bottom of the back cover, a location that is rather uncommon for tablets because it’s fairly easier to cover them with your hands while holding the device in portrait mode.

Even though the South Korea-based company didn’t reveal technical specifications of the LG G Pad 7.0 recent reports have indicated that the new tablet will be less powerful than the LG G Pad 8.3. If the reports prove correct then the G Pad 7.0 is likely to have a 7-inch screen with 12080 x 800 resolution, while being underpinned by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor,1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. I remind you that the G Pad 8.3 has an 8.3-inch screen with 1920 x 1020 resolution and a quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor. The LG G Pad 7.0 is also expected to sport a 3.2 MP primary camera without a LED flash.

LG-G-Pad-7.0

The LG G Pad 7.0 would most likely run Android 4.4.2 KitKat out of the box, of course, customized with LG’s proprietary user interface. Color variants include black, white, and blue. Given the hardware specifications of the 7-inch tablet, the G Pad 7.0 would probably become LG’s budget option for 2014.

There is no word on the G Pad 8.0 and the G Pad 10.1 till now, but we are pretty sure that the South Korean company will reveal more details in the coming days.

Gmail new outlook about to follow latest Google+ UI

We have been hearing ample buzz so far about revamping the look of Android. The question remains as to what outline the redesign will follow. We’ve seen a probable Gmail renovation, and now we’re seeing another which takes a few suggestions from the recent redesign of Google+ for Android.

The leak coming from Yoel Kaseb, the same person that posted the Google+ redesign snapshots last month. He showed some of the changes that came in the G+ update that pushed out earlier this week. It is tough to tell how the two are connected since there are lot of differences between the two Gmail leaks. We don’t know about the version Kaseb posted is being newer than the one Geek.com, or if both the versions are completely following different test lanes. On the similarities end, both versions use the big plus symbol in the bottom right to compose a new message

The new outlook shows a similar idea to the latest version of Google+, which abandons the hamburger menu in support of a dropdown from the top bar.Excluding those two items, the new images appears quite a bit like the current version of Gmail. It doesn’t even consist of the full color top bar which we have seen as part of the Google+ redesign as well as the newer version of Google Keep.

Whatever the fact is, it gives the impression of redesign in the making, and we wouldn’t be amazed to get more answers about all of it at annual developer conference Google I/O scheduled next month in San Francisco.

Apple, Samsung reportedly about to settle all patent disputes

Over the last fortnight, Apple and Google got to a spots bargain that saw both events accept clear up any sort of license conflicts in a way that wouldn’t entail continuous lawsuits, and now, it is being reported that Apple and Samsung are currently holding talks on a comparable contract.

Also however, sometimes, the patent struggle in between Apple and Samsung has actually provided home entertainment, it has usually felt like a play area back-and-forth, and with each new year seeming to bring yet an additional prominent court hearing, points have come to be a slightly tedious and foreseeable.

Provided the current judgment for Apple, who has again been awarded problems after Samsung was discovered to have duplicated a number of software-related patents, one could have believed that this would certainly be the end of concerns.

But unless a friendly contract is made, you really feel as though any sort of court judgment simply signifies an interlude between one hearing and the next, and with both business keen to make large sales, innovate and expand their particular product line-ups, this consistent litigation gives most unwanted distraction.

Florian Mueller – – local license expert and follower of all points associated to Apple licenses – – believes that a bargain ams going to be gotten to between Apple and Samsung “really quickly,” after which we hopefully won’t be seeing anymore courtroom struggles between two of contemporary innovation’s most prominent participants.

Yet although this is a come in the appropriate direction, you feel that there’s still very a great deal of discussion to be made just before anything can be completed. Nevertheless, prior to each significant court day, the principals of each company have actually been made to take a seat and attempt to talk points through in a civil way in a try to take care of issues without involving judge and jury; an obligatory step that has consistently failed in its objectives.

Apple-Samsung-Galaxy

Steve Jobs when said he was willing to go “thermonuclear” on Google to “right the incorrect” that was the “stolen product” of Android. But present Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook is a far more conciliatory personality open to more recent ideas – – something that has actually been shown right around Apple throughout his leadership – – and with Chef having openly revealed his distaste at legal battles, it’s not a surprise that his business has now settled points with Google.

Doing likewise with Samsung appears the organic next step, and we’ll definitely be keeping our eyes peeled for anymore developments on this.

Upcoming iPhone 6 Shell Leaked

iPhone 6 shell has been leaked by MacFixit recently. It’s a 4.7 inch shell and if the rumors are true then it would be the bigger version of iPhone family for now.

The green color in this shell just appears to be a plastic coating and not the color of the metal itself. Silver aluminum is seen underneath the camera lens.

There was another leak a while before comparing the 5.5 inch and 4.7 inch iPhone models and the 5.5 inch version was allegedly called as iPhone 6S Air.

iphone6-6s-casePhotos shared by nowhereelse.fr appear to be simple cases of both 5.5 inch and 4.7 inch iPhone models, paired with physical mockups. The photos show the 5.5 inch iPhone Air and 4.7 inch version side by side providing scale comparison and also approximate dimensions of both devices.

The larger case is identified as being for iPhone 6S and nowhereelse.fr reported that it measures 7 mm thick, 81 mm wide and 157 mm long. The iPhone 6S model is a bit larger than the 4.7 inch model. The 4.7 inch model measure 7.0 mm thick, 67 mm wide and 138 mm long. MacFan published design drawing earlier, the dimensions of both of the cases closely matches with those design drawings, which are base of the most recent mockups and renderings.

Physical features of both the cases look to be similar. Rear cutover for the camera, cutout for the usual volume buttons and mute button along the left side are similar too. Reportedly there is a new cutout along the right side of the cases and it’s probably for a relocated power button in the upcoming 4.7 inch and 5.5 inch iPhone models.

Both 4.7 inch and 5.5 inch versions of the iPhone 6 are expected to come with a thin profile similar to fifth generation iPod touch. A touch ID fingerprint sensor, faster A8 processor and improved camera with optical or electronic image stabilization could be part of the new devices. It appears that the 4.7 inch version might hit the market this fall.

Shortly when teasing it, Oppo created the N1 mini official. The corporate shared a number of the phone’s details, however not all, because it can hold an occurrence on June 10 to simply try that.

What Oppo shared concerning the N1 mini is tiny, however offers a general plan of the phone’s higher mid-range spirit. The Oppo N1 mini options a similar swivel camera as its larger brother. Asus showcases international PadFone S variant ahead of Computex

While the US is waiting for AT&T to finally let release the PadFone X to the market, the rest of the world might not have to wait much longer. At Computex technology fair next week, ASUS is expected to launch the PadFone S, which is practically the same PadFone X except meant for international markets.

Those who have been following the Android world, and ASUS’ products in particular, will no longer be a stranger to the PadFone line that lets users dock a smartphone into a tablet to gain more screen space. In this PadFone S model, the smartphone half of the duo is nothing to pan. Though undeniably made of plastic, it sports a brushed metal design around the edges in an attempt to give off a more premium look.

ASUS has totally eschewed any button at the front of the device, but the conspicuous branding that takes it place at the bottom doesn’t really offer additional room for the 5-inch 1080p screen. The back cover is removable but, sadly, only for the purposes of inserting SIM and a microSD cards. The 2,300 mAh remains stuck to the rear. When used as a slate, the PadFone S naturally increases its juice, with an extra 4,990 mAh cell, bringing the ensemble to a total weight of 514 grams and total waistline of 11.6 mm.

padfone3padfone1

In terms of hardware, the PadFone S smartphone is equipped with the 2.3 GHz variant of the Snapdragon 801, with a healthy dose of RAM at 2 GB and internal storage at 16 GB, expandable up to 64 GB only. The smartphone does have its own cameras, higher than the tablet dock, at 13 megapixels at the back and 2 megapixels on the front. ASUS’ custom ZenUI can also be found here, running on top of the latest Android 4.4.2 version.

ASUS will probably unveil the PadFone S at Computex 2014 scheduled on June 3-7 in Taipei. Pricing is still up in the air, but word is that the smartphone and tablet together will cost 20,000 TWD, roughly $660, which is admittedly quite cheap for those who want a smartphone and tablet in one.

Snapdragon 805 is about to revolutionize the camera utilities

The next-generation Snapdragon 805 processor created a lot of buzz in the market when chipmaker Qualcomm first announced it last September — and it’s still making noise. The processor is entering into production and should appear in the next wave of mobile  devices, such as the Galaxy S5 Prime and the HTC One M8 Prime. The hasty speed could make this a smartphone most desired one.

The Snapdragon 805 processor is the foremost mobile processor to offer system-level Ultra HD support, 4K video capture and playback and enhanced dual camera image signal processors, for multitasking, power efficiency and mobile user experiences. The processor offers Krait 450 quad-core CPU, the first mobile CPU to run at speeds of up to 2.5 GHz per core, along with memory bandwidth support of up to 25.6 GB per second that is designed to provide unprecedented multimedia and Web browsing performance.

Qualcomm is planning to integrate support for dual cameras into the upcoming Snapdragon 805. This chip will allow both stereo and depth camera processing, letting a manufacturer implement these features without significant work. The new chip will allow to take 16 megapixel burst shots while also filming video at the same time, something which not even some of the greatest cameras in the market can do. The Snapdragon 805 can also offer 3D noise reduction on videos, and the chip’s gyroscope allows for digital image stabilization.

HTC’s upcoming flagship, the One M8 Prime is powered by a Snapdragon 805 chipset, featuring two cameras on the back. One is the Ultrapixel camera sensor that captures the photo, and the second one is a camera sensor that is used to calculate depth. This could mean that HTC will stick with the Duo Camera concept even for its future flagships and could also encourage other manufacturers to incorporate it  with their devices.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S to have fingerprint sensor & Ultra Power Saving Mode

The firmware of the unreleased Samsung GALAXY Tab S which leaked out a few days ago confirms the existence of the fingerprint sensor and an Ultra Power Saving mode as well. The upcoming tablets which are yet to be announced are rumoured to come in 10.5 inch and 8.4 inch configurations; sporting pixel dense WQXGA (2560×1600 pixel)screens but sadly show no added software customisations for the bigger displays.

The source that peeked into the software revealed that the device does indeed have the fingerprint sensor that is similar to the one found on the GALAXY S5. Moreover it includes the same functionality and features of the GALAXY S5 flagship smartphone as well. Also included in those files was the Ultra Power Saving mode which is again similar to the GALAXY S5. The tablet similar to the smartphone will run the TouchWiz skinned OS in a grey scale mode which supposedly reduces power consumption, delivering better battery life. We have no clue why would someone purchase a WQXGA (2560×1600 pixel) AMOLED display and run it in a black and white mode, but we are sure that Samsung must have put a lot of “research” into it.

We’ll be hearing all about the Super AMOLED tablet duo on June 12, since Samsung is officially introducing them to the world. Both variants are sporting a 2560 x 1600 pixels resolution, an Exynos 5 Octa 5420 chipset with 1.9 GHz quad-core ARM Cortex-A15 and 1.3 GHz quad-core ARM Cortex-A7 CPUs.They’re bundled with an 533MHz ARM Mali-T628 and 3GB of RAM, while internal memory is 32GB. notification_use_the_notification_panel_03help_power_saving_modeTab s

Root Galaxy S5 on AT&T and Verizon and Win $

We all understand that Android makers don’t significantly like homeowners or developers tinkering around or maturation their devices. In a very bid to escape such happenings, Samsung has determined to lock down the boot loader of the Galaxy S5 even deeper than its precursor, so creating it troublesome for developers to achieve root access.

While alternative S5 variants are lucky enough to receive root (and on some, unbarred BL) upon unharness day, we have a tendency to up here on the Verizon have had the unfortunate expertise of ever-increasing doubt in whether or not root are achieved on our device. Because the logical (and expected) progression from the S4, the S5 is bolted down tighter than a drum – and also the agreement on this device is that root would be warrant higher accolades, than what root and unbarred boot loaders would have fancy in past Galaxy devices. I’d wish to in person supply a $500 bounty to the primary person ready to notice or produce a technique, exploit, or unlock that enables us to completely root and supply the required steps for maturation the Verizon (and currently, ATT) Galaxy S5 here on XDA. I’m hoping this bounty, like any others that opt to pledge here, would be useful motivation to the developers willing to take a position the time and energy in serving us to unlock the potential of this excessive new device. Or (where appropriate) that this bounty are a modest counter-offer to alternative possible sources of income for such work.

As the level of issue will increase with every new device, the extent of appreciation and admiration for those willing to seek out (and facilitate find) such exploits will increase exponentially. I cannot categorical my feeling enough, for people who value more highly to tackle such a trial. During this vein, I’d extremely encourage any and every one VZW/ATT S5 users to think about pledging a donation towards the efforts in serving to us succeed this first-step. Please think about breakage in to the current bounty, as this could solely facilitate increase our probabilities – and can facilitate keep our variant within the minds of these who are keen and skilled of finding an exploit. People who need to assist notice an exploit, like myself, however that lack the data and skill in Linux/java – this can be your chance to assist by conducive inside your suggests that. To reemphasize; this bounty is for completing a root method/exploit solely, and can apply to an unlock that precedes a precise root methodology.

And many members of the XDA Forums have currently move to supply a present or bounty for a developer who is ingenious enough to achieve root access on the Galaxy S5 consecutively on the VRU1ANCG build. Composed from discrete contributions and pledges, the $18,000 is offered to the developer who comes up with an operating root for the device.

If you think that the answer is with you, certify you submit a post on XDA with a bit-by-bit orientate the way to get laid, in order that different users will strive it too. You may additionally get to offer legitimate proof that your procedure is purposeful by posting valid screenshots. The money reward can then be wired to you via PM by every member who pledged to supply the reward. Prominently looking forward to anyone determined about becoming a candidate during this challenge to seek out a method for root.

Charge Your Smartphone Up To 92% Faster With Legion Meter

Normally the fastest way to charge you phone is through its original charger. A much slower way is using a USB port on a computer although it is a lot more convenient for most people.  USB ports charge very slow, especially charging when data is being copied takes a lot of time. The Legion Meter can help you charge your devices much faster when using the USB port on a computer.

The Legion Meter is a nice little device that comes with its own OLED screen which displays a lot of different information. This information includes:

  • Watts delivered to the device

  • Amps delivered to the device

  • Voltage of the USB port

  • Battery capacity in Milliwatt-hour

Legion Meter has its own multimeter which can tell how much power is being transferred to the device. Legion Meter has a mode for Android devices and another for Apple devices. There is a switch that can be used to change between Android and Apple charging mode.

It allows the phone to charge faster by letting the phone draw as much power as possible. This way the device can charge as fast as it can. This technology allows Legion Meter to charge devices in much less time than it would normally take to charge.

Charge Your Smartphone 92% Faster With Legion Meter - 2 -- Doi Toshin

A test was conducted using Android phones that could only draw in 2.4 watts of power. After attaching Legion Meter the device was able to draw 4.5 watts. This made it charge 88 percent faster.

When connected to the wall USB charger, the Legion Meter still increases output. When connected to a 2A wall USB charger, it showed a gain of about 17% for most Android devices.

Technical Specifications:

  • Voltage Rating: 2.0 – 6.0 volts

  • Current Range: 0 – 3.7 amps

  • Power Range: 0 – 22.2 watts

  • Operating Temperature: 0 – 85 degrees Celsius

Apple May Come Up with a New Phone featuring Flexible Display with an Integrated Solar Panel

Right now solar power is one of the sustainable sources to overcome the increasing power needs, especially power needs while you are on move. Already many large corporations are using solar power to an extent to fuel their datacenters. It’s been spoken for quite some time now about the possibilities of powering our personal gadgets using solar energy, but nothing has really come up yet. There are solar powered calculators and keyboards exist but that are less power consuming devices, how about a power hungry iPhone? How would it feel if you get to keep your iPhone charged all day long without connecting to power socket? Yeah, it would be great and it looks the moment might be just around the corner.

Apple is trying to make a touch based smartphone with an integrated solar panel right in it. A newly updated patent is evidence that Apple is hard at work to make the next big move.

U.S. Patent No. 8,730,179 is for an Integrated touch sensor and solar assembly.” Apple now has the patent that would let it to integrate a solar panel underneath iPhone’s or any smarthphone’s touch screen. It’s such an impressive piece of technology and most of us might have not even given a thought about such an idea. The fact is that Apple has got a patent for it.

The Patent Abstract

“Integrated touch sensor and solar panel stack-up configurations that may be used on portable devices, particularly handheld portable devices such as a media player or phone are disclosed. The solar cell stack-up configurations may include one or more touch sensor layers and one or more solar cell layers. By integrating both the touch sensors and the solar cell layers into the same stack-up, surface area on the portable device may be conserved. The solar panel may be mounted face down or otherwise obstructed by a touch sensor or other component. In this configuration, the device may include light channels that allow light into the device and direct the light around the component and to the solar panel. A parabolic reflector may be used to direct the light.”

apple-solar-screen-patent

Hearing that, we already thinking what a solar powered iPhone 6 would be able to do in your hands. The patent illustrates a solar panel resided below not just a touch screen but also a flexible display. Yeah, that would be jaw dropping stuff.

Patent for a touch screen with integrated solar panel was originally filed back in 2008; however the original patent’s updated revision was awarded last Tuesday May 20, 2014. Now Apple can make such a thing a reality without any fear of anyone coming up with an obscure patent and demand for a millions of dollars and that would be no barrier anymore for them to try.

The patent does not guarantee anything and there may not be any such product in near future. Said that, let’s take a moment to think about the idea that might set us free from relying of power outlets to charger our smartphones very often in the future. At least, when there is sunlight.

Sony D2403 benchmarked, is it designed to compete with Moto G?

Sony is rumored to be coming out with another new smartphone. A Sony Xperia model D2403 has recently been benchmarked by GFXBench. Although there were rumors about Sony’s mid-range phone Xperia G, this new model does not seem to be it. Leaked specs of Sony D2403 indicate that this may be Sony’s low cost version to Moto G.

Sony D2403 is a 4.4-inch smartphone with 888 x 540p display with capacitive touchscreen, 1.2 GHz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 CPU and Qualcomm Adreno 305 GPU. It also has 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage and a front-facing 0.3MP VGA camera.

The main back camera is of 8MP with resolution of 3264 x 2448 with the capability to shoot Full HD videos and also having autofocus, flash, face detection and HDR photo abilities. Other features of the phone include Bluetooth, accelerometer, compass, GPS, Wi-Fi, light sensor and NFC.

Some of the specs such as the 1.2 GHz quad core Snapdragon 400 processor and Adreno305 Graphics, 1GB RAM and 16GB internal storage are similar to those of Moto G. Sony’s D2403 will also probably have Android 4.4.2 KitKat. These features make it competitive with Moto G but the pricing will be lower, say around $200.

It is not clear what the brand name for the Sony D2403 is going to be when it comes out officially. Model number D2403 of the leaked smartphone resembles model number D2303 of Xperia M2 but the size and specs are more like the Xperia L.

Moto E Gets Bootloader Unlock Support

Motorola took the world by storm last week when it announced the Moto E smartphone with an ultra low price tag. And now, the manufacturer has announced that it will add the device to its bootloader unlock program. This should bring a smile to the faces of developers, especially since the smartphone features a somewhat stock version of Android.

Unlocking the bootloader would allow customers to flash a variety of custom ROMs, although the stock Android skin running on the smartphone is pretty good on its own. It’s good to see that Motorola acknowledges the need for its smartphones to be developer friendly as well, which means that they’re targeting a wide demographic.

The variants of the Moto E from the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Latin America have all been added to the program. All users have to do is head to the Motorola source link to find instructions on how to get their specific device’s bootloader undone. We can expect several different ROMs and root-access applications like CyanogenMod 11, AOKP and Paranoid Android for the Moto E, given that they are stable enough to run on such admittedly low-end hardware.

motorola_bootloader_unlock_program

Things to be kept in mind while unlocking the bootloader of your Moto E smartphone.

  • All media and content stored in the device will be lost. All apps coming from the Google Play Store will need to be reinstalled once the process is complete.

  • Some apps may not function anymore.

  • Encryption support may be lost.

  • Key functions may be lost such as the ability to make calls,  audio playback, and radio

  • The device may be temporarily or permanently damaged.

  • Unlocking the bootloader will not change the subsidy lock status of the device.

The procedure of unlocking the bootloader will be best done by customers having prior experience with the Android system and how it works.
