World’s thinnest Smartphone, the 4.75mm Vivo X5 Max officially launching on December 10

Vivo has announced that it will officially unveil its uber thin 4.75mm Vivo X5 Max smartphone on December 10. The company had posted teaser images of the smartphone on its Weibo page last month and a few days later, we saw it passing through TENNA.

After launch, the Vivo X5 Max will become the world’s thinnest smartphone and will displace the current thinnest phone Oppo R5 from the top position. Oppo R5 is 4.85mm thick but lacks many features that are common to smartphones because of its slimness, such as the 3.5mm headphone jack.

However, it seems that Vivo has taken care of this problem. Even though the Vivo X5 Max is only 4.75mm thick, it sports a headphone jack as well as a dual SIM tray. You will be able to use either two SIM cards or a SIM card and a microSD card in the tray. The handset will supposedly offer significantly upgraded Hi-Fi sound quality.

The handset will have LTE connectivity and run Android 4.4.4 KitKat. Its dimensions are 153.9 x 78 x 4.75mm and weighs 146 grams.

The Vivo X5 Max will debut in China first, probably followed by other markets later.

Vivo likely to arrive with 3.8mm thickness slimmest smartphone: Pictures

Well, the recent Oppo R5 announcement puts the Chinese maker with the monopoly of having the slimmest smartphone on the planet with 4.8mm thickness. Now it seems that another Chinese manufacturer Vivo might be in race to take dominance over this as reports show that it might release a handset with just 3.8mm thickness. The company (Vivo) has recently showed off its handset having an ultra-slim 3.8mm of thickness.

Well, you can once again read the above statement as the 3.8mm reality seems to be getting true very soon. There is also another image of the company’s handset kept along side the iPhone5s. This makes the iPhone 5s that currently seems to be slim suddenly seems to be obese in comparison.

With such a thin body, some obvious questions start arising as to the built-quality, durability and yes most important of all is how big could the battery back-up for the phone be. The durability can surely be met with a lithium-aluminum design (similar to the one that was spotted in the recently launched Oppo N3) of the handset but how about the battery?

As more exciting details from Vivo arrives, we surely will make it a point to bring it them to you. Stay tuned!

Vivo Xshot officially unveiled with ultrafast F1.8 lens

The Chinese manufacturer Vivo has officially unveiled the camera-centric Xshot smartphone. The new model is a high-end Android phone with a clear focus on the camera and imaging performance.

Being a camera centric phone we were not shocked to see a 13 mega-pixel Sony IMX 214 main camera with 6 lens arrangement and f/1.8 aperture, capable of fast still shots. There’s also a two-stage shutter button and like the iPhone 5s and HTC One (M8), the Xshot uses a dual-LED flash for better color balance in flash photography. In video mode the device is capable of recording 4K resolution and for selfie-shooters there is an 8MP front camera with LED-flash.

One standout feature for the rear camera was the “kid mode” which has the Xshot play a sound , a dog barking or cat meowing, to catch the attention of a child, then once facing the lens the camera will take a shot.
