Specs for the Samsung Galaxy A8 listed by GFXBench

Recently there was a news as to the Samsung Galaxy A8 to be coming with a fingerprint sensor and is likely to be launched in multiple markets all around Europe and Asia. Now benchmarking website GFXBench has arrived with some hardware specifications of the device. Denying some previous rumors, the GFXBench shows the handset to be having a 5.5inch display instead of a 5.7inch one having a fullHD resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels.

Other specs are in line with the previous rumors showing a Snapdragon 615 chipset to its heart along with a 2GB of RAM memory and 16GB of internal storage space. Additional leak shows that the handset would be running the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop on-board. Moreover, compared to last year when the Galaxy A7 hosted a 13MP camera, the Samsung Galaxy A8 is likely to have a topped up 16MP primary camera shooter to its back.

This means that most of the feature of the Galaxy A8 would be quite similar to that of the Galaxy A7 and the handset is rumored to be coming with a finger-print scanner too. Well, we would for what the final device has to offer.

Samsung Galaxy Grand 3 Benchmarked, Specs leaked: Packs a 5.5”display, 13MP/5MP camera, Snapdragon 410 SoC

A new 5.5-inch smartphone from Samsung, bearing model number SM-G7200 has recently been spotted in the GFXBench database. Rumors say that this could be the Galaxy Grand 3. After the success of Galaxy Grand 2 which was launched last year, it looks like Samsung is getting ready to launch its successor now. Samsung has recently unveiled its Galaxy A3 and Galaxy A5 smartphones.

The GFXBench listing revealing most of the specifications of SM-G7200 or the Galaxy Grand 3 was first spotted by Gizmobic. The handset is a clear upgrade in all areas over the Galaxy Grand 2. The device has already gone through Bluetooth certification a couple of months back.

Let’s come to the specs. According to the listing, the Galaxy Grand 3 sports a 5.5-inch HD screen (Grand 2 had 5.25”display), with resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. It is powered by 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 (ARMv7) processor and Adreno 306 GPU. The handset has 1.5GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage with usable memory of 12 GB, and it will be running Android 4.4.4 KitKat out of the box.

Biggest improvement is the camera department. Primary rear camera of the Grand 3 is 13MP against 8MP of Grand 2. The front-facing camera has also been upgraded from a mere 1.9MP to a respectable 5MP making it a good handset for taking selfies. The recently unveiled Galaxy Grand Prime has a 5MP front-facing camera. Both the cameras of the Galaxy Grand 3 are capable of recording 1080p video.

There is no information about battery capacity, pricing or when the new Samsung Galaxy Grand 3 will be launched by the company. Since Samsung had launched the Galaxy Grand in India first, it may also launch the Grand 3 first in India. Samsung has just recently launched its 6” Galaxy Mega 2 in the country. The company is yet to launch its much rumored metal-bodied Galaxy A7 smartphone.

Although there were rumors about Sony’s mid-range phone Xperia G, this new model does not seem to be it. Leaked specs of Sony D2403 indicate that this may be Sony’s low cost version to Moto G.

Sony D2403 is a 4.4-inch smartphone with 888 x 540p display with capacitive touchscreen, 1.2 GHz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 CPU and Qualcomm Adreno 305 GPU. It also has 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage and a front-facing 0.3MP VGA camera.

Some of the specs such as the 1.2 GHz quad core Snapdragon 400 processor and Adreno305 Graphics, 1GB RAM and 16GB internal storage are similar to those of Moto G. Sony’s D2403 will also probably have Android 4.4.2 KitKat. These features make it competitive with Moto G but the pricing will be lower, say around $200.

It is not clear what the brand name for the Sony D2403 is going to be when it comes out officially. Model number D2403 of the leaked smartphone resembles model number D2303 of Xperia M2 but the size and specs are more like the Xperia L.

6.2-inch Samsung SM-T255 Tablet Spotted on Benchmarks

Following the track of Sony (Xperia Z ultra), it appears like Samsung is also working on a Android device with 6 inch plus display. The rumors started pouring in after a new handset codenamed Samsung SM-T255 has been spotted on GFXBench database boasting 6.2 inch HD 1280×720 pixel display. Since Samsung already has its Mega lineup of smartphones with 5.9-inch and 6.3-inch displays, it  could tie in with the Galaxy Tab series of devices.

From the GFXBench listing, it is tipped that the Samsung SM-T255 device will run on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean platform and come equipped with a 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor under its hood. The device is also claimed to come packed with 16 GB of internal storage capacity, 1.5 GB of RAM, 8 MP primary camera with auto focus, flash and FHD video recording coupled with 2 MP front-facing snapper and connectivity features such as Wi-Fi, NFC and GPS.

Details such as lack of SIM card slot and model number were revealed from the benchmark database. Also, the Wi-Fi Alliance certification has let out the product description and it claims that it is not a phablet, instead it is a small size tablet device.

As of now, there is no clear picture on when the tablet will be announced and on its pricing. But the well-known tracker, Zauba caught the SM-T255  visiting India back in March and later valued the 6.2 incher tablet at INR 28,065 ($465), so way north of both the estimated worth of the Galaxy Mega 6.3 and that of the GTab 4 7.0.
