Recently, a few major PC manufacturers like Acer, HP, and Lenovo have taken a crack at desktop All-in-one(AIO) PCs that run Android rather than Windows. And now, renowned display maker AOC has joined the AIO PC bandwagon as well.
AOC launched this week two new all-in-one (AIO) mySmart desktops including the 22-inch A2272PW4T and the 24-inch A2472PW4T. Both are based on Google’s Android 4.0 “Ice Cream Sandwich” and Nvidia’s quad-core Tegra 3 system-on-chip clocked at 1.6 GHz packing a native ADS IPS display with a 1920 x 1080 resolution. Both are available now at national CE retailers.
The specs of both AIOs are essentially the same save for their screen sizes. The specs show an a 50M:1 dynamic contrast ratio, 2 GB of LPDDR3 system memory, 8 GB of internal storage, and an SD card slot to add even more storage. There’s also a 720p front-facing camera with an echo-cancelling mic and two 2-watt speakers on the back.
Both Android AIOs sports VGA and HDMI input, four USB 2.0 ports, and Wireless N and Bluetooth connectivity. So while all the hardware and software speaks “tablet,” there’s no internal battery, so the devices need to be placed somewhere near an electrical outlet.
The two even look the same, styled with a black and silver design and providing an “intelligent tilt adjustability” from 15 degrees to 57 degrees thanks to the built-in stand. The specs reveal that it’s fully compatible with Google’s services like Google Play and Google Maps. Surprisingly, these two Android AIOs are rather cheap, smaller 22 inch device costing $299.99 while the 24-inch device costs $100 more at $399.99.
The low price is probably due to the older Tegra 3 chip and a low-end storage capacity. These AIO devices will be more compatible for schools and other institutions which require larger displays. AOC is yet to specify launch markets, but we think most of its core markets will be covered.
