Following the track of Sony (Xperia Z ultra), it appears like Samsung is also working on a Android device with 6 inch plus display. The rumors started pouring in after a new handset codenamed Samsung SM-T255 has been spotted on GFXBench database boasting 6.2 inch HD 1280×720 pixel display. Since Samsung already has its Mega lineup of smartphones with 5.9-inch and 6.3-inch displays, it could tie in with the Galaxy Tab series of devices.
From the GFXBench listing, it is tipped that the Samsung SM-T255 device will run on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean platform and come equipped with a 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor under its hood. The device is also claimed to come packed with 16 GB of internal storage capacity, 1.5 GB of RAM, 8 MP primary camera with auto focus, flash and FHD video recording coupled with 2 MP front-facing snapper and connectivity features such as Wi-Fi, NFC and GPS.
Details such as lack of SIM card slot and model number were revealed from the benchmark database. Also, the Wi-Fi Alliance certification has let out the product description and it claims that it is not a phablet, instead it is a small size tablet device.
As of now, there is no clear picture on when the tablet will be announced and on its pricing. But the well-known tracker, Zauba caught the SM-T255 visiting India back in March and later valued the 6.2 incher tablet at INR 28,065 ($465), so way north of both the estimated worth of the Galaxy Mega 6.3 and that of the GTab 4 7.0.
