Motorola reportedly working on Nexus 6-like DROID Phablet with Snapdragon 810 for Mid-2015 release

Motorola launched two high-end phones back-to-back in October this year. The first was the 5.9-inch Nexus 6 Phablet in collaboration with Google and the other was the 5.2-inch DROID Turbo with some awesome specs. Motorola was later acquired by Lenovo from Google. We now have rumors that Motorola is working on a better version of the Nexus 6 and will market it as a DROID Phablet that will be released next year.

According to rumors, Motorola’s new DROID Phablet will be similar to the Nexus 6 in terms of physical construction but will have much improved specifications. The device is supposed to sport a 5.9-inch Quad HD display with 1440×2560 pixels resolution just like the Nexus 6. It will however have the latest Qualcomm 64-bit Snapdragon 810 processor and 4GB RAM on board as against 32-bit Snapdragon 805 and 3GB RAM of the Nexus 6. In addition, the device will have a whopping 4000mAh battery but the camera specifications are not known. The DROID Phablet will probably run Android 5.0 Lollipop.

According to the source, the upcoming Motorola Phablet will be launched somewhere in mid-2015 through Verizon. There is also a chance that the device might not be sold as a DROID Phablet but as some other Motorola brand. Improved specs will surely make it a great device to own!

Motorola DROID Turbo goes official with jaw-dropping specs and heavy duty battery

Well, after all the hush-hush, press renders and many other rumors, the Motorola DROID Turbo is finally official and needless to say the device comes with some very promising and heavily loaded specs. This is the second premier smartphone from the Motorola camp within a month, after Google announced its flagship Motorola designed Nexus 6 a fortnight ago. Let us discuss every aspect of the premium handset in detail.

Design and Display

The Motorola DROID Turbo stays to the 5inch segment unlike the phablet segment which Google has recently ventured into! Design wise, the Motorola DROID Turbo has very similar design pattern to its earlier DROID handsets and seems to have a hair-line difference from the DROID MAXX.

The Motorola DROID Turbo offers a metalized rear cover with a Kevlar build, as found in most of the DROID line of handsets. Moreover, the device has also got an metal frame clad in the Metallized Glass Fiber which offers more sturdiness to the device simultaneously making it more durable and light-weight. The device also features an water-repelling nanocoating that protects the internal hardware of the device from liquid spillage or 20 minutes of protection at heavy rains. Coming to its front. You would get to see a Gorilla Glass 3.0 protection with a front-facing speaker on the device.

droid-back

Note that the device would be available in two different versions one having a metalized back cover and the other with a Kevlar-reinforced one. The Kevlar version would be a bit heavier and thicker weighing 176grams and 8.3-11.2 mm curve, while the metalized version would weigh 169grams with 7.8-10.6mm thickness.

Coming to its display, the front offers a 5.2inch touch screen Quad HD AMOLED panel having a pixel resolution of 1440×2560 pixels and a measures pixel density of 565ppi. This makes the display of Motorola DROID Turbo to be the sharpest compared to any other existing smartphone in the industry.

Machine Power and Software

Just like the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, the DROID Turbo too has the most powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 APQ8084 chipset to its heart clocked at a whopping 2.7GHz and supported by a Adreno 420 GPU clocked at 600MHz. The device also comprises of an NLP (Natural Luggage Processor) on board.

Along with the powerful chipset, the device also has a 3GB of LPDDR3 RAM support with 64-bit access, ensuring to unleash the most of 64-bit big.LITTLE architecture of Android 5.0 Lollipop with Material Design and at the same time promising us of a seamless multi-tasking. The storage options for the device include a 32GB version as basic and a 64GB version would be launched ahead in future.

The connectivity options include LTE Cat 4 support for 2,4,7 and 13. The device would also support Verizon’s own XLTE network.  The handset is likely to receive Advance Calling 1.0 feature in just 90 days after which the device would be eligible for high-def Voice Over LTE. The basic conventional connectivity options of Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC on-board are also offered  by the device.

The Motorola DROID Turbo comes with a big software suite. This includes the Motorola Smart app suite that includes Moto Voice, Moto Assist, Moto Actions, Highlight Reel, Moto Display and Best Shot.  There are also some exclusive apps like Zap with Voice, Zap Zone and Zap to TV. Motorola Migrate would make it very easy for users to easily transfer their contacts from old Android devices directly to the DROID Turbo. Currently, the Motorola DROID Turbo runs the Android 4.4.4 KitKat and would very soon get the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop upgrade.

Powerful 21MP Camera Snapper

motorola-droid-turbo-camera

This is another department where the Motorola DROID Turbo makes you spread your eyes wide! The back of the device hosts a whopping 21MP camera sensor having f/2.0 aperture supported with a dual-LED flash. Of the two, each LED light is placed on the either side to the left and right . the primary camera to its back allows users to capture 4K videos at 24fps and the 1080p videos at 30fps. Yes, you also get many software tweaked features like slow motion video recording at 720p, digital zoom, auto HDR, burst mode, panorama and many more. The front-facing video chatting camera is 2MP allowing to capture 1080p videos.

Battery beyond bars

Falling just short of the 4000mAh battery capacity, the device hosts a whopping 3900mAh of battery capacity and Motorola claims it to be easily for two long days. This is certainly a part of achievement from Motorola to pump this huge a battery in 5.2 inch device. Just like Nexus 6, the handset is also equipped with quick charging feature that facilitates 8 hours of usage with just 15 minutes of charging. There is off-course the Turbo charger that would play a considerable role and can be found inside the box. An Introduction To The Apple iPad Air 2 8MP Camera"s New Features

When you want to capture a moment in a photograph all you need is a good camera at arms reach. These days most phones and tablets come with their own cameras but quality really matters. A blurry or dark picture is often unusable when taken with a poor quality camera. A lot of people use phones and tablets to take pictures these days and this is where Apple really shines.

Apple phones and tablets are best known for their excellent cameras. When a camera isn’t  around, you can take good quality pictures with your Apple tablet. Apple is bringing a few new features to its ultra slim tablet with iPad Air 2 this year.

New features include the ability to shoot 1080p video with stereo sound. Slow motion pictures can be recorded at 120-fps and time-lapse pictures can be recorded as well. Panoramas of up to 43 megapixels can now be captured with this new camera. Other new features are Auto HDR, self-timer, and manual exposure control.

The iPad Air 2 now comes with an 8MP iSight camera. Compared to last year, the iPad Air 2 gets 66% more pixels. The pixel size for this camera is a tiny 1.12 microns. The aperture size of the camera is F2.4.

The SoC that processes these digital images is Apple’s own A8X. The iPad Air 2 can now detect faces much better and from a longer distance. This helps focus the image and identify faces in the picture. The new camera also comes with better noise reduction for clearer photographs.

So there you have it. The Apple iPad Air 2 camera is a pretty decent camera for a tablet. What would you do with the slow-motion or time-lapse feature? Please tell us in the comments section below.

Back Panel images of the new Motorola Droid Turbo and Moto S leaked

There have been rumors that Motorola is getting ready to launch a new powerful handset for Verizon Wireless and its USP will be its quick-charging battery. The device will be called Motorola Droid Turbo and is supposed to be launched next month.

We have now got the first leaked picture of the device. HelloMotoHK has posted images of the backside of a Moto handset on its Facebook page which is supposedly the Droid Turbo. The handset has Motorola’s typical woven surface with the camera on the upper side and dual LED flash one on each side of the camera. At the bottom is the Droid logo with the Verizon logo just above it. Verizon wireless has been the exclusive supplier of Motorola’s Droid phones in the US.

Motorola Droid Turbo-1

Rumored specs of the Droid Turbo are quite impressive and include a 5.2 inch display with 2560 x 1440 resolution, quad-core 2.7GHz Snapdragon 805 processor, 3GB RAM, 32GB internal storage, a 20MP rear camera and a 2MP front-facing one. The device is expected to have front-facing speakers and will offer fast battery charging. The leak also suggests that the new Droid Turbo will resemble Motorola’s Moto X rather than the previous Motorola Droid handset.

Motorola Droid Turbo-2

There is another leaked image that shows the back panel supposedly that of Motorola’s Moto S. Looks like it will be a phablet because it seems much bigger compared to the 5.2-inch Moto X Gen 2 beside it, but the design of the back panel looks similar in both the phones. This Moto S could be the big 5.9-inch“Shamu” smartphone that Motorola was supposed to be working on for Google as its Nexus 6.

Motorola Moto S

Of course the two smartphones might be entirely different but if this is the Moto S, it can’t be the next Nexus. There is also a possibility that the images are fake.

Let us see how things turn out. Stay tuned…..

How LG G3 Will Look For US Carriers

How LG G3 Will Look For US Carriers

The Android Phone LG G3 by LG Electronics has gained positive reviews since the time of its launch. Being the successor of G2 which was launched back in 2013, it contains many similar features along with better design.

It is reported that Sprint and T-Mobile have announced that they are on their way for launching LG G3 which we can expect to arrive in next few weeks. However, Verizon and AT&T have not released any information yet regarding the arrival of the Phone. Although we don’t know about the release date of these two carriers, we clearly know how LG G3 will look on all these carriers.

LG G3 Will Look For US Carriers

You might think the LG G3 variant will look same for all the carries but that is not the case with Verizon. While the rest of the variants are in same color with plain grayish look, Verizon comes with a fine black cover that makes it shine out among the four. So if you want LG G3 and you are on Verizon then you will be fine with a good looking phone but you might not be fine with the logos.

Verizon has put their logos on the phone in front and back. While Verizon has gone with all logos, Sprint variant doesn’t have any Sprint logo on it. You will find the Sprint apps in the phone but the lack of Sprint’s logo displays the carrier’s choice of not doing extensive marketing for them. AT&T and T-Mobile variants also come with their logos.

Since the launch of T-Mobile and Sprint variants is expected to be in coming weeks, we can assume that Verizon and AT&T variants will be launched soon after them.

LG G Vista For Verizon Leaks Again

Verizon has already confirmed that it’s going to offer the LG G3, but we keep hearing about the new flagship from the Life’s Good crew called the G Vista. Just a few days ago, tipster @evleaks tweeted an ad from Verizon regarding a case for a phone called the LG G Vista.

An recent image posted by @evleaks claims to show the Verizon version of the LG G3 (left) next to a device referred to as the LG G Vista (right). The true identity of the G Vista hasn’t been confirmed, but it looks fairly similar to the LG G Pro 2, complete with similar headset and front-facing camera placement.

The specs of LG G Pro 2 have probably been dialed down in order to make the phone more affordable. It includes a 5.9-inch 1080p display, 3GB of RAM and a 2.26GHz Quad-Core processor.

While the details of this LG G Vista are still up in the air, it’s good to see that Verizon and LG are teaming up to bring a version of the G Pro 2 to the States. We haven’t heard any rumblings of the G Pro 2 coming to the U.S., so here’s to hoping that the G Vista will give us a variant of the G Pro 2 and give phablet lovers on Verizon a new handset to check out.

UPDATE: A UA profile for the LG G Vista reveals that the phone’s display will have a 720 x 1280 resolution. A list of rumored specs reveals that the size of that screen will be 5.7 inches and that a quad-core Snapdragon 400 CPU will be under the hood along with the Adreno 305 GPU. 1GB of RAM is inside while 8GB of native storage is aboard. A 32GB capacity microSD slot is available for those who need more memory. Back and front cameras weigh in at 8MP and 1.3MP respectively, and a 3200mAh battery powers the whole shebang.

LG G Pro 2 Lite could be Verizon variant of LG Vista

It may look like the LG G3 but this flagship is not the G3. In this Verizon ad for a stylish combo, the LG G Vista takes its bow. The always-reliable tipster,@evleaks posted an image of the Verizon LG Vista and message, “Everyone loves a good mystery, so let the games begin. This is …”The image shows a rubberized shell/holster combo case for the LG G Vista. The tipster didn’t provide any details of what the smartphone’s specs entail or any idea of when we might see this in Verizon’s smartphone lineup.

So, the smartphone in this Verizon advertisement may just be a LG G Pro Lite 2 variant. Verizon will be offering a rubberised case for the device, which is expect will hit the shelves after July 17th, when the LG G3 is expected to launch on Verizon. The G3 is expected to be available for pre-orders on July 10th from Verizon, with the launch coming exactly a week later.

LG G Pro Lite 2, it’s a lower-end and budget version of the LG G Pro 2.It is a 5.9-inch 1080 x 1920 display phablet, powered by a lower-end Quad-Core Snapdragon 800 CPU,3GB RAM and a 3200mAh battery to keep it going. This will allow customers who want a phablet for its large display and don’t  have to shell out a lot of money for flagship devices like Samsung’s Galaxy Note 3 and HTC One Max.

HTC Making A New Flagship Windows Phone for Verizon

HTC made a killing in the Android market with its HTC One line of phones. Now, after many years, HTC is finally making a phone for Windows. After buying Nokia’s devices and services, what kind of phone will Microsoft bring to the market? According to the ever reliable @evleaks, a new Windows Phone 8.1 will be released under HTC, and it is planned to made for Verizon.

HTC Making A New Flagship Windows Phone for Verizon - 1 - Doi Toshin

A recent tweet has dubbed the phone HTC ONE REMIX.

HTC Making A New Flagship Windows Phone for Verizon - 3 - Doi Toshin

No leaks have arrived about the specs of the phone just yet but we do know that its a Windows Phone. It will probably have a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor as well. The Name Remix indicates that it might be associated with music. The rest of the user interface is predictable because its a Windows Phone. Since its Microsoft and HTC, we can assume that the form factor of the phone will be premium.

HTC tries to keep high standards for its phones and the M8′s aluminum unibody design may be incorporated into the HTC One Remix as well. We might also see duel cameras similar to ones on the HTC (M8). We may see the 4MP UltraPixel camera or maybe a better camera sensor. Or maybe HTC will try to keep the bar low on this one, who knows.

HTC used to make cutting-edge phones for Microsoft with Windows Phone OS in them but its been a while since then. HTC has not shown us a good Windows Phone in years. The last phone they released for Windows was the HTC 8XT and it was not bad but not really all that good either. We will post new information on the new HTC Windows Phone as more information arrives. Until than, keep your eyes on the @evleaks twitter feed for more leaks than you can handle. We will keep our eyes peeled as well.

Sony Xperia Z2 with Verizon logo spotted again

Just at the beginning of the month we saw Verizon-branded Sony’s Xperia Z2 posted on its Google+ page. However, the image was promptly deleted and Sony representatives said that a mock-up image was mistakenly posted.

Well, now again the Verizon-branded Sony Xperia Z2 was spotted on the Sony’s Korean microsite for the product. The backside of the handset clearly shows the Verizon logo and the 4G LTE symbol beneath it. Of course, Sony has removed the image this time round too, replacing it with a phone having the Sony logo on the backside of the device.

 Sony_XperiaX2-V

Recent leaks lead to a speculation that maybe Sony’s flagship Xperia X2 will be launched through Verizon. Last month we saw that FCC had approved the Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet for Verizon. However, although the Xperia Z2 is Sony’s flagship smartphone, it has not yet been launched in the US. Sony had confirmed early in the month that the device would be launched in the US this summer and would be available only through its online store.

XperiaZ2_Sony-V

So why does Sony keep posting Verizon-branded Xperia Z2? First time it might be a mistake, but a second time too? Maybe the phone is really meant for Verizon, or maybe not. Maybe the company’s plans are delayed due to shortages or perhaps the company changed its mind about Verizon. Earlier, T-Mobile had Sony’s flagship Xperia phones exclusively. The company has not yet confirmed any US carriers for its Xperia Z2.

To refresh your memory, the Sony Xperia Z2 smartphone sports a 5.2-inch Full HD Triluminous display, 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB RAM, 16GB internal storage, 20.7 MP camera that can capture 4K video, 3200 mAh battery. The handset is waterproof and dust resistant and runs on Android 4.4 KitKat.

Xperia Z2 Verizon photo pops up on Sony’s Google+ Page, gets promptly deleted

A photo of Sony’s Xperia Z2 for Verizon was posted on its Google+ page. The photo had a Verizon logo printed on the top of the device. The post did not mention Verizon but as reported by Droid Life, there was a statement,”Be prepared for every adventure in the great outdoors with the waterproof and dust-resistant Xperia Z2.”

XperiaZ2_Verizon

However, the image was promptly removed and Sony representatives gave the following statement with respect to the leaked photo on Google+ :

“A mock-up image was mistakenly posted to the Sony Mobile Google+ page. The image has since been removed and we apologize for any confusion this may have caused. For our U.S. customers eager to find out more information about the availability of Xperia Z2, we are excited to share that the device will be coming to the U.S. unlocked this summer.”

SonyXperiaZ2

The good news for the US fans is that the unlocked Sony Xperia Z2 will be available to them soon this summer through the company’s online store. At present, T-mobile is the only US carrier that sells Sony smartphone brand, the Xperia Z1.

So it is just wait and watch.

Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 7, 8.9 could be launched by Verizon

Verizon is going to add at least four new labels to its tablet line-up shortly. According to @evleaks, Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 7 and Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 are ready to be launched by the largest US mobile carrier. Besides Amazon’s tablets, Verizon will also release Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 and Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 tablets. We already gave information about arrival of Galaxy Tab 4 series last month.

xl_Amazon-Kindle-Fire-HDX-8.9-624

There is a speculation that both the Kindle Fire HDX 7 and HDX 7 8.9 will support Verizon’s LTE network. Pricing details are not leaked yet, but Amazon is presently retailing Kindle Fire HDX 7 LTE for $300, and the larger Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 LTE for $494.

We are not expecting truncated prices for Amazon tablets, since Verizon has a tendency of overpricing its tablets on contract (see the recently launched Galaxy Note Pro and Galaxy Note 10.1.

Although there’s been no word yet from Verizon or Amazon about the carrier offering these tablets, this source doesn’t often get it wrong so we’re likely to be hearing something official soon.

Verizon providing replacements for Galaxy S5 for units affected with the camera issue

A latest bug on the Verizon Samsung Galaxy S5 has led the camera completely out of order on the smart-phone as users  see a “Camera Failed” error message. It looks like this issue wasn’t just limited to Verizon branded Galaxy S5 variants as some consumers on other carriers across the globe have been noted facing similar issues from the camera application of the Samsung flagship device.

samsung-galaxy-s52

With sheer luck as Samsung had, Verizon and Samsung both have not denied the existence of this particular bug .They have acknowledged it and  have suggested users to head over to their nearest retail store or the carrier outlet to have a quick repair to this problem or if it doesn’t help then they can get a replacement if nothing works out.

Samsung has shown their concerns with a statement saying – “Samsung is committed to providing the best experience for customers. We have learned that a limited number of Galaxy S 5 devices may have an issue that causes “Camera Failure” pop-up error message. We ask that customers affected call 1-888-987-4357 or visit their carrier for service under Samsung’s standard limited warranty.”
