Xiaomi, the world’s third largest phone maker, normally will release its flagship smartphone in the month of July, like what they did with Mi4. Xiaomi Mi4 was released in July last year. However, it seems like Xiaomi is taking its own time to release this year’s flagship smartphone, which probably going to be named Mi5, as the company seems to be waiting for Qualcomm’s latest chipsets to be stabilize first before using it in Xiaomi Mi5.
Recently, the rumors about the specification of Xiaomi Mi5 surfaced up. One of them mentioned that Mi5 will have a 5.2-inch quad HD display screen, similar to HTC One M9+ or Xperia Z4v, a Snapdragon 810 SoC as the processor as well as 3GB RAM. One interesting rumor is that Mi5 will feature a 16MP rear camera and a 13MP front camera. However, there is no detail whether the optical image stabilization feature will be supported. The battery size will be 3000 mAh. As for the software side, Xiaomi Mi5 will come pre-installed with Xiaomi’s own user interface which has not been announced to public yet, MIUI 7. The user interface is built on top of Android 5.1 Lollipop.
Apart from Mi5, Xiaomi is rumored to release another bigger version of flagship smartphone which is known as Mi5 Plus. It is rumored to run on Snapdragon 820 processor and will be having a 5.7-inch Quad HD resolution. On top of that, the device will come with a 23MP rear camera and a 12MP front camera with battery size of 3500 mAh.
For the pricing, Xiaomi Mi5 is rumored to be selling at about $386 while Xiaomi Mi5 Plus will be selling at about $600. Well, we will have to wait for the official launch before we can try the products.
