Huawei’s Latest 64-bit Kirin 950 SoC Chipset Surfaced Up

Not known to many people Huawei actually manufactured their own chipset, which place the company in the same level as Qualcomm, MediaTek and Samsung.  A few months ago, Huawei hinted that the company is working on Kirin 950 SoC, however, recently, the almost complete specification about the chipset surfaced up. Huawei has been using the Kirin line of SoC on their own flagship smartphones such as Huawei P8(Kirin 930) and Huawei Ascend Mate7 (Kirin 925).

It seems like Kirin 950 chipset is going to be a 64-bit octa-core SoC which consists of four Cortex-A53 cores and another quartet of Cortex-A72 chipsets. On top of that, the chipset promises to be able to have clock rate up to 2.4GHz with the ARM Mali T880 unit as the graphic processor.

Kirin 950 SoC will also come with a dedicated DSP audio co-processor which is a Tensilica Hi-Fi 4 DSP.  There is an i7 Co-Processor which will be responsible for the sensor hub, security and connectivity.  The internal RAM will be a dual-channel LPDDR4 which has data speed of 25.6GB/s. As for the camera, the chipset will be able to support up to 42MP camera unit, a USB 3.0 and Bluetooth 4.2.

There is no confirmation on the official launch date of Kirin 950, however, it is expected to debut together with Huawei’s next flagship smartphone which most is probably going to happen later this year.
