Samsung’s as yet unannounced handset Galaxy A8 has leaked out numerous times through photos and also a hands-on video. Although Samsung has not confirmed its existence, almost all its specs are out. We once again get to see photos of the device on the Chinese website P C Online.
PC Online has thoroughly checked out the prototype of the Galaxy A8 and has presented a report on its looks, features and performance. The Galaxy A series consists of mid-range all-metal frame handsets. Samsung has made the A8 its thinnest smartphone yet, measuring 157.7 x 76.7 x 5.94 mm. Unlike its predecessor the Galaxy A7, the Galaxy A8 has rounded corners and looks somewhat like the Galaxy S6. Although a mid-ranger, its specs are quite decent.
Looking to the specs, the upcoming Galaxy A8 features a 5.7 inches Full HD Super AMOLED 1920 x 1080p display. Its home button has the fingerprint scanner integrated into it similar to Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge. It is rumored that the device will have two variants of the processor – one with Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor and the other with Samsung’s own Exynos 5430 processor. This particular prototype tested by PC Online has the octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor. Memory options include a 2 GB RAM and 16 GB internal storage (expandable). There is a 16MP slimmed down version of the ISOCELL camera sensor at the back, a 5MP selfie camera in the front and a 3050mAh battery. The handset will run Android 5.1.1 with the company’s TouchWiz UI on top.
Rumors say that the Samsung Galaxy A8 could be priced at about 3000 Yuan or around US$ 500. The handset may be first introduced in China but the launch date is not known yet. It is also not known when the device will be available in other markets.
