OnePlus 2 is set to be launched on 27th of this month in an unconventional virtual reality style announcement, touted to be the world’s first such launching for a smartphone. OnePlus has just made another big announcement that its second generation flagship will have a whopping 4GB RAM, 1GB more than its predecessor OnePlus One which has a 3GB RAM.
Random Access Memory or RAM handles current actions of the device such as actively running apps or those running in the background. According to the company, the LPDDR4 RAM offers “faster loading times, smoother gameplay, and never-before-seen energy saving features.” It also consumes less power and improves battery efficiency. The OnePlus 2 RAM will use lower operating voltage of 1.1V compared to the 1.2V of OnePlus One’s LPDDR3. It is also 2x faster with up to 32GB /s of speed.
We already know that the OnePlus 2 will be featuring the octa core Snapdragon 810 chipset, fingerprint scanner and Type-C USB port. The fingerprint scanner will be placed below the camera and LED flash on the backside. The new Type-C USB port in it will allow the user to insert the cable connector any side up. Other expected features of the OnePlus 2 are a 5.5-inch to 5.7-inch screen and Adreno 430 GPU.
As for pricing, there were several speculations but now its CEO Pete Lau has confirmed that the handset “will be priced under 450 USD.”
