Huawei has officially launched Mediapad M2 in a conference at the International Art Academy in Beijing recently. Apparently it is not the first time that the tablet is showcased to the public. In May this year, it is reported that the tablet was showcased in France as well as in the short promo event by the manufacturer last month.
Mediapad M2 will be having an 8-inch display screen size with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixel with ratio of 16:10 and 275 ppi. The tablet will be running on the company’s own Kirin 930 octa core SoC which consists of 4 Cortex A53 cores clocking at 2GHz and 4 Cortex A53 cores clocking at 1GHz and a 3GB RAM. It is dubbed as the tablet version of Huawei P8 as the CPU, GPU, RAM and screen resolution setup is the same and therefore, it is expected that both device will be having similar performance. Huawei P8 is reported to have a fast response when doing basic operation such as opening apps or swiping the screen to left or right, however, the gaming performance could be improved.
Mediapad M2 comes with two choices for storage, a 16GB or 64GB size. There will be two cameras; the front camera is a 5MP while the back camera is a 8MP. Other features include 4800mAh battery size, dual 1W speakers and Harman Kardon’s Clari-Fi sound technology as well as optional LTE connectivity. As for the software side, M2 will come pre-installed with EMUI 3.0 on top of Android 5.0 Lollipop. M2 will have metallic body with 7.8mm thickness and thin metal bezels which makes the tablet looks compact.
The tablet will be on sales starting on July 16 in China with pricing starts at 1588 Yuan for 16GB Wi-Fi version and 1888 Yuan for 64GB Wi-Fi version and 16GB LTE version each as well as 2288 Yuan for 64GB LTE version. There is no further information whether the device will also available in worldwide at the moment.
