We used to say that like other personal things, mobile phones have also become an extension of our personality. And that is evidently true. We buy cases and other accessories, tweak background and font settings, and even have custom-made cases. And now LG has made this aspect of owning a handset even more apparent through the birth of the Aka /aw-kuh/. It is an Android smartphone with eyes. At first glance, it looks cute and undeniably a unique feature. But what’s best about these eyes is that they actually has a purpose and not just some useless decoration. They try to create an emotiona connection with their owner and they also serve as notification. Their eyes turn from red to green, look dizzy after shaking and look down when you take them from the case.
The LG Aka comes in four colors/personalities. The yellow one is Eggy and falls in love easily. The white one is Wooky, a cute gangster wannabe which makes him a little of a bully. The black Aka is Soul which is so into music. Loves it as much as he loves beer. And Yoyo, the pink one, which gained its name for a little cringe-worthy of a reason. She loves hamburger and Coke which makes her weight yoyo. And what’s more fun is that you can get all four cases to accommodate all your moods.
The LG Aka is not crafted to be the best phone considering its price, but it was said to be innovated for the lonely with rich imaginations. Furthermore, it still has features that you cannot underestimate. 5” 720p screen, runs Android 4.4 KitKat, 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 1.5GB RAM, 8MP camera, 16GB of storage, microSD slot, LTE connectivity, 2,610mAH battery and more.
Now available in its home country Korea for KRW 500,000 ($455). We do hope the company has plans of distributing it overseas.
