In a short span of about four years, Xiaomi has come up to be fourth largest handset manufacturer in the world. The company’s latest flagship Xiaomi Mi4 launched a few months back has been quite successful in the market. Buoyed by this success, Xiaomi seems to be working on its successor, the Mi5. Photos of what could be the Xiaomi Mi5, have been recently leaked in China. The leak is from a production line indicating that the new Xiaomi flagship could already be in production.
Leaked images of the alleged Xiaomi Mi5 reveal a substantial makeover in its design. The display looks to be larger than 5 inches. The side bezels appear extremely thin and the handset looks thin and elongated even though the actual thickness of the phone cannot be ascertained from its pics. However, the overall appearance is similar to the Mi4 except for the almost vanished side bezels.
Unfortunately, no other specifications are available at this point of time but rumor has it that the hardware of the Xiaomi Mi5 would be of flagship level but won’t see a big update over that of its predecessor, the Mi4. Rumors suggest that the device will have a quad HD display, Snapdragon 805 processor and 3 GB of RAM.
Here’s what the Xiaomi Mi5 will supposedly look like:
We may keep in mind that these images might be fake or it may be another Xiaomi handset and not the Mi5. Xiaomi is likely to announce its next flagship in the coming year though. Only last week the news came that the company is seeking funding to raise its market value to $40 billion, 4 times its current value of $10 billion.
