Hyper has announced iStick – the first USB flash drive with lightning Connector. Made for iPad touch and iPhone. The device is not available in market yet however it can be preordered through the funding campaign launched by the company on Kickstarter.
The company has been working on the iStick for over two years and they have finally got Approval from Apple. Hyper said, “As expected, Apple had many concerns for iOS storage products like the iStick. We actually started MFi application for this product more than 2 years ago. It was definitely not an easy process but we managed to address all of Apple’s concerns and finally just got MFi approval.”
The product has a standard USB connector in addition to the lightning connector. iStick USB flash drive would come in 64 GB, 32 GB, 16 GB and 8 GB variants along with an integrated companion app that will let you transfer content between devices. Hyper said that the iStick would let users to stream movies including non-iOS native video formats, music and open files directly from the USB flash device without copying to iOS device.
The company plans to start shipping the product in August and selling price would be $129 for 8 GB, $169 for 16 GB, $199 for 32 GB and $229 for 64 GB. The early bird Kickstarter backers are getting 50% off making it $65 for 8 GB, $85 for 16 GB, $99 for 32 GB and $149 for 64 GB.
The company said, “We only reserve Kickstarter launches for our very best products just like what we did with CloudFTP 2 years ago. It added, “crowdsource ideas and suggestions to make the product even better and to give it the biggest launch possible.”
