Vivo has announced that it will officially unveil its uber thin 4.75mm Vivo X5 Max smartphone on December 10. The company had posted teaser images of the smartphone on its Weibo page last month and a few days later, we saw it passing through TENNA.
After launch, the Vivo X5 Max will become the world’s thinnest smartphone and will displace the current thinnest phone Oppo R5 from the top position. Oppo R5 is 4.85mm thick but lacks many features that are common to smartphones because of its slimness, such as the 3.5mm headphone jack.
However, it seems that Vivo has taken care of this problem. Even though the Vivo X5 Max is only 4.75mm thick, it sports a headphone jack as well as a dual SIM tray. You will be able to use either two SIM cards or a SIM card and a microSD card in the tray. The handset will supposedly offer significantly upgraded Hi-Fi sound quality.
Specs for the new Vivo X5 Max include a 5.5-inch LCD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, 1.7GHz MediaTek 64 bit octa-core processor, 2 GB RAM, 13MP primary camera and 5MP front-facing camera. The handset will have LTE connectivity and run Android 4.4.4 KitKat. Its dimensions are 153.9 x 78 x 4.75mm and weighs 146 grams.
The Vivo X5 Max will debut in China first, probably followed by other markets later.
