Last week, Chinese handset maker ZTE announced its ZTE Star 2 which is basically a high-end smartphone with very good specs and very good system wide voice-controls that allows users to use the phone hands-free. This means that even basic and primary actions like placing a call, controlling a camera or even for the sake unlocking the device can be performed just with your voice command a bit similar feature that we saw in the Motorola’s Moto Voice.
According to the tech website CNET, this feature has been developed keeping the Mandarin Chinese in mind and the handset also understands English but ZTE is said to be currently working more upon it. ZTE has claimed that its Star 2 handset uses some 1000 different patents, 158 of which are related to voice control. The company claims that with this implementation, it has attained 90% success in “abnormal noise conditions” with a response rate of 1.2 seconds.
Looking to its specs, the device offers a 5inch display with 1920×1080 pixel resolution or 441 ppi density covered with a protective shield of Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and very small bezels. The device bakes a powerful quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 clocked at 2.3GHz. the memory options include 2GB of RAM and 16GB of built-in expandable storage. The camera to its back would be 13MP with Sony sensors and f/2.0 aperture and a dual LED flash. To its front is a 5MP secondary camera with f/2.2 aperture with 88 degree wide angle lens. The device runs the Android 4.4.4 KitKat version on-board. It has got a good built of aluminum alloy frame and offers a battery capacity of 2300mAh.
The smartphone is currently available on online stores in China for CNY 2499 or $402. The company is expected to showcase this flagship at the CES 2015 event.
