This move of the South Korean giant was spotted by the Samsung specialist Dutch site Galaxy Club. The trademark applications were filed on February 4th in which the applicant is mentioned as ““Samsung C & T Corporation | SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS” and simply request trademarks for Galaxy S6 and S6 edge. In the second name, the name ‘Galaxy’ is missing and ‘edge’ is in lower case. Both the applications are listed in the KIPRIS (Korea Intellectual Property Rights Information Service) database.

Samsung trimming down TouchWiz, removing and making most of its apps downloadable

Over the years, Samsung has tried to offer more and more software features in its phones and tablets. As a result, the software has become quite bloated and heavy. Of course, Samsung realized this and began trimming its TouchWiz since Galaxy S5.

The company removed some apps and features in the TouchWiz to make it lighter but made some of the apps downloadable so that users could access them when they wanted. Now as Samsung is gearing up for the Galaxy S6, it wants to optimize the handset’s software by getting rid of unnecessary features and streamlining the UI. According to Sammobile, the company wants to optimize TouchWiz so that it will be “as fast and smooth as stock Android on the Nexus 6.”

Now Sammobile has received info from sources that all the add-on features that could be downloaded as apps are being removed by the company, which will trim down the software to a great extent. At the same time, Samsung will also optimize the code to simplify the UI and make it more manageable.

It is not known which apps and features will be removed. Samsung integrates some functions like Smart Stay in the settings menu and builds some features as standard apps. The integrated functions will most likely remain but separate apps such as S Voice, S Translator and Story Album might be offered as downloadables and not be pre-loaded on the device as is currently done. Most people rarely or never use all the pre-loaded stuff and those who want it will be able to download it whenever they want.

TouchWiz Themes App for Samsung Leaked Out

Apparently Samsung will soon launch TouchWiz themes app for its flagship smartphone in the near future. TouchWiz is Samsung’s very own customized Android UI which is available for Samsung devices only. Users can expect new additional features which they cannot find it in the other Android smartphones in the market.

Apart from Samsung, HTC was one of the first Android device vendors to start customizing Android UI. TouchWiz offers a lot of useful features, apps, and services but themes were never on the offer. However, recently , there are pictures of Samsung devices, which might possibly be Galaxy A3 or Galaxy A5, leaked out showing a glimpse of various themes which might be offered in the future versions of TouchWiz.  This most probably includes an ability to change color schemes, sounds, icons, backgrounds and some other aspect of UI.

The leaked settings screenshot as per below also suggest that there is a ‘Themes’ section which when you take a look under its section, you can see a couple of themes, a default one and a new theme named ‘Natural’ which changes the wallpaper and icons in the UI. It is not confirmed yet whether Samsung will release an SDK to create themes for this new feature. However, if the tech giant does release it in the near future, we are sure that a lot of themes will be created from the developers.Samsung-Galaxy-TouchWiz-themes-011-TouchWiz-themes (1) 2-TouchWiz-themes

That’s specifically what a replacement video comparison demonstrates because the Moto E and therefore the Galaxy S5 are faveolate against one another to perform a number of the foremost basic tasks.

This contains unlocking the phone, opening the gallery, camera app etc. Astonishingly, the Moto E outstrips the Galaxy S5 in opening the Gallery additionally because the Camera apps with important delays seen on the Samsung flagship. Sure, it’s not a giant delay; however this goes to point out the ability and capabilities of a stock Android device, even supposing it doesn’t brag of a high finish specs sheet.

Maybe Samsung features a lesson to find out from it and might tone down the suite of TouchWiz options a notch within the future. This is often a bit demoralizing considering that the hardware on board isn’t being used by the exploited by the software.

Beating informed the Galaxy S5 hits home for the Mot E also. A low-end device meant to interchange feature phones will quite a little bit of everyday tasks additional expeditiously than a flagship from the biggest android OEM. Benchmark tests square measure fun, however actual use cases square measure additional indicative of what your expertise are going to be.

Check out the video below, that comes courtesy of Tom Rich. Although the Moto E might not have all the bells and whistles of the Galaxy S5, it will show simply however nice it performs in regular situations. We’re not maxim it’s higher than the Galaxy S5, or that stock android is best than TouchWiz, however actual use in real-world situations suggests it’s no slouch — even though it’s that method on paper.

So what does one think about the video?
