Google details upcoming Android Wear updates

Google has penned a blog post that outlines an official list of updates it will add to the Android Wear platform before 2014 ends. The company has also given confirmation about its all smartwatches running Android Wear getting the updates as soon as they are rolled out.

This is no surprise, as Google is pretty much in control of the update process for Android Wear devices, looking to dodge the fragmentation situation that’s persistent in its tablet and smartphone operating system.

Google says that it’s first big update for Android Wear will bring with it support for offline music playback and GPS sensors. This will let you leave your phone at home when you go for a run, a walk, or a bike ride. You’ll be able to listen to music stored on your watch via Bluetooth headphones, to which the wearable will connect directly, without the need for a smartphone intermediary.

The next update will follow with support for downloadable watch faces that will allow users to able to customize the home screen info that you’d like, including a calendar or fitness info. Google says that they will get a lot of neat watch faces from many developers on Google Play after this feature gets added to the platform.

“Our goal with Wear is to build technology that helps you connect with others and get stuff done. So often, technology can become something that gets in the way of everything else. But we want to build devices that you can use when you need and forget about when you don’t—technology that’s built for your sake, rather than its own sake. Coming throughout the rest of this year, we’re making some updates to Wear that will help you get even more out of your watch—and the rest of your life, too,” David Singleton, Engineering Director, Android Wear wrote in the blog post.

The blog post also goes over the wearable devices launched at IFA 2014 this week, namely, the Moto 360, Asus ZenWatchLG G Watch R and the Sony SmartWatch 3. It goes on to state that these devices, as well as the ones released earlier this summer (LG G Watch and Samsung Gear Live), will receive the aforementioned update in the coming months.

Have you already picked up an Android Wear device or do you plan to soon? If so, which unit do you own or have your eyes on?

Moto 360 to be made out of plastic, measuring 48mm in diameter

Moto 360 already announced by the Motorola ,but lot of information about Android Wear including launch date still not revealed. The company shown bunch of photos of the smartwatch, on which it appears to be made of metal. Well, not so quick with the conclusions.

The latest rumors reveals that the Android Wear will actually be made out of plastic. Moreover, due to the wireless charging feature, the Moto 360 is rumored to be 13.5mm thick. In comparison, it’s competitors the Samsung Gear Live and LG G Watch are 8.9mm and 9.9mm thick, respectively.

Priorly, it was considered that the Moto 360 is going to cost twice as much as the other Android Wear duo due to its sapphire display, OLED display and wireless charging. Its press release snapshots give an impression that it’s going to be made out of metal. A plastic watch looking like metal sounds like a disappointment to me.

Everyone is also wondering about the actual dimensions of the watch. The source of the rumors reports rather large, measuring 48mm in diameter. As always, we recommend you to take this information with a pinch of salt, since Motorola is only going to have the final word about the exact specs of the Moto 360.

Have a quick look at Moto 360

Moto 360 is one of the most highly-anticipated smartwatch releases this year, but remains one of the most elusive when in comes to its technical details. A fresh set of leaked images have appeared online appending more details to this Android Wear device.

The Moto 360 will feature a heart rate sensor on the back – a detail that has not been shared so far by Motorola – and it will come with wireless charging abilities. It is made of stainless steel, and that the device will have water and dust proof certification (IP67). The smartwatch will come with interchangeable watch bands, with the model in the images sporting a leather band.

The Moto 360 is supposed to offer users 2.5 times more life than the G Watch and might offer up to 4 days of use on a single charge. Interestingly, it appears that not all apps that work on square Android Wear devices will necessarily be compatible with round devices and vice-versa. The amazing Motorola wearable is rumored to be priced at 249$.

Moto 360 will have an ambient light sensor which other Android Wear devices lack

Motorola’s upcoming Android Wear smartwatch, the Moto 360  is supposed to be launched late this summer. It is the only smartwatch to have a round watch face and according to a video released by TechCrunch, it will have an ambient light sensor in the little black bar at the bottom along with the display drivers.

No other Android Wear device has this ambient light display which will adjust the brightness of the display automatically according to the surrounding lighting conditions. This would save some battery usage of the device. Both the LG G Watch and Samsung Gear Live do not have such an ambient light sensor and the users have to adjust the brightness manually.

The Moto 360 was showcased in the Google’s I/O last month and it was known that the black bar at the bottom of the smartwatch contains display drivers. However, little else about the watch is known apart from the fact that it could be charged wirelessly.

It turns out that Darrell Etherington of TechCrunch had a chat about the Moto 360 with Motorola’s Cathay Bi at the I/O itself where she showed the working of the device and told him about the presence of the ambient light sensor in the smartwatch (at the1.55 mark in the video). You can watch the video below:

At the moment, the Motorola Moto 360 seems to be a little more advanced as compared to its other Android Wear counterparts and is expected to provide a tough competition to them.

Close to final prototype of Moto X+1 leaks

Well, last August after much noise, Motorola had unveiled the Moto X that arrived with the then novel features like always-on vice recognition system and some of the richest customization options. However, it could not be an eye-grabber among tech enthusiasts. Now after a year, there are much rumors of the company coming up with its this year’s flagship Moto X+1. The Moto X+1 has been recently leaked in images getting photographed from all angles and it seems to be very close to the final product which could be announced anytime soon.

If noticed carefully, the images show two key elements of the device’s design with the first one being the dual-speaker setup on the front and the second one is a wooden replaceable back cover with a Motorola logo at the middle in plastic.

Price from Chinese List Shows Moto 360 to Be Very Expensive

Price from Chinese List Shows Moto 360 to Be Very Expensive

We all are waiting for the launch of three Android Wear devices that will hit the market very soon. We already know very much about the Samsung Gear Live and LG G Watch but what is frustrating is the lack of information we have about Moto 360. Many people have their eyes only focused on Moto 360 but sadly it is the only one that people don’t know much about.

According to the inside news, Moto 360 very much resembles the other two devices but what is concerning the people is its price. While Samsung and LG have made their devices simple, the Motorola is introducing its Android Wear with more of a premium look and fine design. Some news tells that Moto 360 comes with wireless charging and sapphire glass, which could very well be the reason why it costs more.

Chinese site lists the price of Moto 360 to be 2,800 yuan. It is a cause of concern for anyone pre-ordering the device as the price is converted to be $450. The price of the other two Samsung and LG Android Wear devices on the same site is 1,500 yuan, which means Moto 360 has twice the price as compared to both of them.

The list might provide wrong pricing and might be only focusing on making profit from curious customers. The list displays the weight of Moto 360 to be 250g while the other two devices are at 60g range but people claims that Moto 360 is lighter than the other two devices.

Earlier the Motorola put the price of Moto 360 at watch face contest to be $249 but later it said that the price would be changed.

Moto 360 is priced at near $340 in Europe. So, one can assume that the price range for it will be from $300 to anything above.

Could this be Moto X+1 posing next to Moto 360?

The Moto X+1 smartphone is buzzing the rumor arena over the past few months. There is no confirmation regarding specs or name of the Moto X successor by Motorola yet.

The latest leak is coming from Google I/O where an image of an anonymous Motorola smartphone been placed alongside the Moto 360 smartwatch. It wouldn’t be incorrect to assume that the device next to clearly visible Moto 360 smartwatch is the company’s upcoming flagship. It is evident that the device is not the Moto X or any other Motorola device we’ve seen of late which further confirms the credibility of this leak.

TKTechNews obtained the image through a prolific tipster and instantly posted it to its Instagram page. The image is partially syncing with Moto X+1 leaks of late and has already given us several glimpses of the device, although not in its entirety. There is no way we can actually confirm this is a Moto X+1, but it looks thinner and bigger than the Moto X, at least from this angle.

Moto X+1 will probably be announced in the coming months, maybe even alongside Moto 360. If that turns out to be true then we’ll see it rather soon, later this summer that is considering Moto 360 will be announced by then.

What do you think? Could this be a Moto X+1 or is it just a Moto X that is looking different due to the angle this image was taken in?

Motorola uploads official Moto 360 demo video

At Google I/O, the Samsung Gear Live and LG G Watch Android Wear smartwatches were announced along with a proper demonstration. Both smartwearables also went on sale the same day on the Google Play Store.

Sensing the disappointment among early Android and Moto fans, Motorola recently has uploaded a demo video to show how the watch looks like in action. In the demo video, Motorola product marketing manager Cathay Bi gives us a walkthrough of the Moto 360, confirming that it comes with a stainless steel case, and a genuine leather wrist strap (we assume that this is customizable anyway).

Running Android Wear – just like Samsung’s Gear Live and LG’s G Watch - the Moto 360 displays notifications at the bottom of its screen. These can be dismissed the same way you’re doing it on an Android smartphone. The custom watch screen backgrounds designed for the Moto 360 actually seem quite a bit more stylish than those shown off at Google I/O on stage. You can also take (or reject) calls with the Moto 360.

Voice command also gets a quick demo, and works in much the same way as touchless control on the Moto X by simply saying “Ok, Google.” There’s also a physical button on the side of the watch’s body that’s used to wake it up, or you can tap the face.

Moto 360 is expected to release “later this summer” for a price that hasn’t been announced yet.Recently,Motorola revealed the winning design of its watch face contest – which might be used as one of the faces for the commercial version of the Moto 360.

Moto 360 Qi Wireless Charge showing by FCC

Just few days ago, Moto 360 Smartwatch was announced by the Motorola brand while many questions appear. But, the most frequent question of the Smartwatch is about the charging method of it. However, Motorola did not say anything how the Smartwatch will be charged and keep it as secret. But, FCC Filling has reported that the secret will not be ordinary for the Moto 360.

FCC Filling has reported on Moto 360 that it has ‘implementing the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) protocol’ system in order to charge the device. In this case, the device is also developed and licensed for Qi wireless charging. However, Moto 360 may use solar charging or kinetic charging according to the rumor news. But, Moto 360 Qi wireless charge feature reports that it will use magnetic induction charging instead of solar charring system.

We have just got the full Android Wear SDK from Google I/O keynote where Moto 360, LG G watch and Samsung Smartwatch were revealed for the market. Hopefully, we will soon get the pre-order and first unit of Moto 360 soon.

Motorola announces winner of its Moto 360 Design Face-Off

Motorola has now announced the winner of the Moto 360, which can be seen in the photo above, it was designed by David Pascual, and his design comes with some cool features on the watch face. The design is shown at the Google I/O developer conference held recently. The device coming with Android Wear  is expected to compete with the LG G Watch and the new Samsung Gear Live.

Motorola received over 1300 designs for the contest Moto 360 Design Face-Off, and last month the top 10 designs were shared on Motorola’s Google+ page for getting public opinion. David Pascual’s design is the winner of the contest determined by the most +1’s.

The winning face is definitely quite attractive and manages to expertly blend the requisite elements of a smartwatch. White numerals sit on a black background with blue accents, but also present are wireless, power, and Bluetooth indicators, along with a space for notifications.

Motorola says Pascual’s design has a chance of appearing on the Moto 360, but that will probably depend on whether or not developers can truly restructure it within the confines of Android Wear.If it does come pre-installed, it might appear a bit different. Still, it is pretty nice.
