Xiaomi is rumored to be working on its fifth generation of flagship smartphone which most probably will be named Xiaomi Mi5 and Xiaomi Mi5 Plus. These two new products are expected to be launched until November 2015. Both smartphones are said to feature full metal body and bezel-less design.
XiaomiMi5 and Xiaomi Mi5 Plus are rumored to run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820. The latest chipset from Qualcomm is expected to solve the overheating issues which occurred in the current Qualcomm’s chipset, Snapdragon 810. Snapdragon 820 is launched at the Mobile World Congress at Barcelona earlier this year and it is using 14nm FinFET(Fin-Shaped Field Effect Transistor) process. The chipset is bound to start shipping later this year.
Xiaomi Mi 5 is reported to come with 5.2 inch QHD screen with 2.5D glass and 1440 x 2560 resolution. There are two versions of Xiaomi Mi5; one offers 3GB RAM and 16GB internal storage while the other version offers 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory. Each of the devices will come with 16MP of camera at the back of the smartphone, a fingerprint scanner as well as 3000mAh battery. Xiaomi Mi 5 Plus, on the other hand, will have 6-inch screen size with 1440 x 2560 resolution and a 4GB RAM. A 20MP camera will be embedded at the back of the device.
It seems like Xiaomi is planning to bring these two new products to the North America and Europe market as part of the company’s long rumored expansion. Xiaomi Mi 5 rumored to be priced at USD $371. However, there is no confirmation from the company.
