Last year, by launching the Meizu MX4 and MX4 Pro, Chinese handset manufacturer Meizu has emerged a big way posing a stiff competition to its hometown rival Xiaomi. Later, the company also announced its own affordable higher mid-range specs handset like M1 Note and managed to grab a substantial share of the smartphone market in its hometown. Today, the company has went out announcing its yet another flagship handset the Meizu MX5 that comes with a premium design with high-end specs on board.
The major USP of the Meizu MX5 is its full metal jacket as the device is made of some very premium materials. Meizu MX5 has got a 5.5” 1080p AMOLED display and has an upgraded processor the 64-bit octa-core MediaTek MT6975 chipset to its heart. To support this, the handset has got a 3GB of RAM memory and comes in three storage options of 16/32/64 GB with a microSD card slot expansion for each of them. The handset is equipped with a m-charge technology that charges up to 25% in just ten minutes only and up to 50% in just another 20 minutes. To its back lies an excellent and powerful 20MP camera with Sony IMX220 sensor equipped with a laser auto focus tech. the front hosts a 8MP secondary camera. The handset is just 7.6mm thin and weighs just 149 grams.
At the software side, the handset runs the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop skinned with the company’s own Flyme 5.0 that has been given a visual overhaul with glass effects, transparency, themes and much more. The basic 16GB version is currently priced for 1800 yuan ($290) while the 32GB variant for 1900 yuan ($322). Meizu is yet to confirm the pricing for the 64GB variant.
