There are two new products from ASUS which displayed in Computex 2015 in Taipei. Both of the products will be the first two products which will carry Zen brand. ZenPad 8 is the cheaper product of the two tablets while ZenPad S 8 will be slightly more expensive.
ZenPad 8 Z380C will be running on quad-core Intel Atom x3-C3230RK Silvermont chipset clocking at 1.2GHz which is actually designed by Chinese silicon company Rockchip based on the licensed Intel CPU architecture and designed by TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company) on a 28nm process. Another model of ZenPad 8 Z380KL will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 410 entry level 64-bit SoC. Both ZenPad 8 models will come with an 8-inch 1280×800 resolution IPS LCD display and up to 16GB expandable flash storage as well as a pair of 2MP and 5MP cameras.
ZenPad S 8 Z580C on the other hand is a 2.3 GHz processing with an 8-inch LCD display and a much higher resolution at 2048×1536. It also has a pair of camera with 5MP in front and 8MP at the back. The only difference is that Z380 will come with LTE and phone functionality while Z580C will come with a Wi-Fi only device. On top of that Z580C will come with the new USB Type C port.
There is no further confirmation on what is the pricing like. It is expected that the lower end tablet will be priced at around $200 while the higher end tablet will be priced at around $300. We cannot wait to try our hands on both tablets.
