Microsoft Announces Universal Mobile Keyboard That Works With All Smartphones

No matter which platform powers your tablet or smartphone, Microsoft has launched one single keyboard for all. The “Universal Mobile Keyboard” can work with tablets and smartphones of Android, Apple and Windows. The major requirement for the devices to be compatible with this keyboard is Bluetooth Human Interface Device support (HID).

The price tag on this new hardware from Microsoft is of $79.95. From next month, it will be available for general sale. It can be purchased from the Microsoft Hardware Store directly. The keyboard has built-in stand and lightweight protective cover.

The user can flip up the cover and power on the keyboard, and then connection to the smartphone or tablet would be done via Bluetooth. After the connection, user can enjoy smooth typing experience. The Universal Mobile Keyboard has an option to connect with three devices at a same time having different operating systems. The keyboard can be connected to Windows tablet, iPad and Android smartphone; user can instantly switch between the operating systems to select the desirable device.

The keyboard is compatible with the devices having Windows RT, iOS 6.0 or higher, and Android 4.0 or above. Although, the keyboard offers Android Home button and Windows Control key, but it doesn’t have a trackpad. Sources reported that company’s motive behind this development was to make a keyboard that could work with all major platforms without any difficulty.

The Universal Mobile Keyboard will be offered at online and selected retail stores along with the Microsoft Store anytime in the next month.
