Just after successfully releasing the iPhone 6 Plus this past Tuesday, Apple is yet again to make a very important announcement. Apple is allegedly stirring another Apple product, a 27-Inch ultra high definition (UHD) monitor as reported by WitsView, an LCD research market firm. The screen is said to be exhibiting a 5120 x 2880 p resolution for a breathtaking display. It is pretty ambitious and exciting, is it not? Let us all cross our fingers that the rumors are true that it is to be released by the end of this year.
Again, if there is a possibility for this news, this would be a great leap for the present Thunderbolt displays. So far, we can only get a resolution of 2560 x 1440 p on the current models. Imagine a viewing experience twice as good as what we currently have.
If you noticed on the first part of this article, I used the adjective ambitious to describe this project. How so? Apparently, what Apple only has now is DisplayPort 1.2 standard integrated on Thunderbolt 2.0 ports. And this combination is only capable of supporting a 4096 x 2160 display. Thus, reinforcing the 5K resolution is quite a demanding undertaking.
On a more positive note, included on WitsView’s report as well is the probability of other major companies also producing Ultra HD displays in different sizes.
