iWatch mass production pushed back to late November

Apple’s much rumored iWatch will enter mass production in mid to late-November, according to KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Kuo, known for an almost flawless track record with Apple rumors, revised the estimate for the forthcoming iWatch from a prior projection of late-September production to late-November in a note to clients.

“We have pushed back our estimated time of iWatch mass production from late-September to mid-/ late- November. We also lower our forecast of iWatch 2014 shipments by 40% to 3mn units,” Kuo mentioned in the report.

The delay is due to much challenging new hardware and software engineering concerns that Apple has to overcome. Considering this, Kuo has intimated the four noteworthy features expected in the iWatch:

  • Flexible AMOLED display

  • Sapphire display case

  • Tougher waterproof standards

  • Different system-on-a-chip parts

The iWatch seems to be delayed to the last quarter end of the year. It can be the good strategic move from Apple in an attempt to catch those very busy last days of the Holiday shopping season.
