Sony Xperia E4g goes official, sports a 4.7” display and 4G LTE connectivity

Closely on the heels of its budget phone, the Xperia E4 earlier this month, Sony has unveiled another Xperia device, the Xperia E4g. While the Xperia E4 is an affordable phone with a 2-day battery life and confirms to Sony’s OmniBalance design, it offers no LTE support. The new Xperia E4g on the other hand, comes with 4G LTE connectivity.

Tony McNulty, VP Value Category Business Management at Sony Mobile says:

Xperia E4 set out to bring many of the premium features people expect of Sony to lower-tier devices; Xperia E4g brings that same quality and ease of use – but with super-fast 4G LTE connectivity.

The Xperia E4g design and most of the specifications are similar to Xperia E4 but it has a smaller display of 4.7” against E4’s 5” screen, a 1.5GHz quad-core MediatTek MT6732 SoC against E4’s 1.3GHz quad-core Mediatek MT6582 SoC and 4G LTE connectivity.

Other specs include 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot for expansion up to 32GB, a 5MP primary camera, 2MP selfie camera and a 2300 mAh battery giving a battery life of 2 days. Its dimensions are 133 x 71 x 10.8 mm and it weighs 135 gms. The smartphone runs Android 4.4.4 KitKat out of the box.

The Xperia E4g will be available in two colors – Black and White and will hit the shelves in April this year with a price tag of about €129, equivalent to $145. Like the Xperia E4, the Xperia E4g too will be available in dual SIM variants and will not be sold in the US.

Sony unveils Xperia E4, a budget smartphone with 5” qHD display, MediaTek SoC and a two day-battery life

Even as everyone is waiting for Sony to announce its next flagship, the Xperia Z4, the Japanese smartphone maker has quietly announced Xperia E4, a new addition to its Xperia family. The Xperia E4 has some premium features but comes with highly competitive pricing. Although Xperia E4 has the same OmniBalance design as other Sony devices, it appears noticeably different. It has more rounded edges and thinner bezels than its predecessor. Specs-wise, it is an entry-level phone with a 5-inch qHD IPS 540 x 960p resolution display, a quad-core Mediatek MT6582 SoC clocked at 1.3GHz, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage of which about 5GB are available to the user. There is a microSD card slot for expansion, a 5MP primary camera and a 2MP selfie camera.

Xperia E4 has a 2,300 mAh battery with a two day battery life.  It also has a Stamina and Ultra Stamina modes to prolong the battery life. Samsung Galaxy A5 Price and Specs leaked by a Retailer ahead of launch

After the launch of Samsung Galaxy Alpha, there have been several rumors and leaks about the next three upcoming Samsung Galaxy ‘A’ series phones featuring a metallic frame– Galaxy A3, A5 and A7. Now a retailer from Kazakhstan ‘Technodom’ has listed the Samsung Galaxy A5 in its catalog before its official unveiling, revealing its price and specifications.

The listing was spotted by a Russian site hi-tech.mail. As per the catalog, the dual-SIM version will be dubbed as Samsung Galaxy A5 Duos LTE (SM-A500) and it appears to be a pricey handset costing KZT 99,990 in Kazakhstan, which translates to about $552 or €435. According to earlier reports the Galaxy A5 was supposed to cost between $400 and $450.

Specs include a 5-inch Super AMOLED HD display with 720p resolution, Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset with a quad-core 1.2GHz CPU, 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory with a microSD card slot for memory expansion. There will be a 13MP main camera with LED flash, a 5MP front-facing camera and a 2,330 mAh battery on board. The phone supports NFC and 4G LTE and will run Android 4.4.4 KitKat out of the box.

Of course, the handset has a metal frame and a great appearance and feel, so it may justify the high price. It measures 139.9 x 69.7 x 6.7mm and weighs 123 grams. Official-looking renders of the Galaxy A5 have appeared earlier and we have also spotted the Galaxy A3 and A5 duo on a video.

Samsung has not yet announced the date when it will be unveiling the trio of Galaxy A3, A5 and A7 smartphones. The catalog is valid up to November 11 so we can expect the company make an announcement before then.
