As some of us know, whenever a new version of Android is released, it brings with it, a new Android statue. This statue always sits in Google HQ in Mountain View, California. Today was the day that Android 5.o Lollipop was announced. Yes, the much anticipated Android L was actually named Android Lollipop.
A new Android statue for Android Lollipop was expected to be erected. Well the new statue is on the premises and sure enough, it comes complete with a lollipop in hand.
Some google employees shared its image for the world to see.Thanks to them we can all see the shiny new statue.
This time the Android statue is a bit further away from the other statues. KitKat, Jelly Bean, Ice Cream Sandwich, etc all have their own but this one is a bit different. Thats because Android 5.0 Lollipop is a very significant upgrade to Android.
Android 5.0 Lollipop is planned to be rolled out to many new and old devices. The Nexus 7 2012 will also be getting this upgrade. Of course it will arrive first on Nexus smartphones, tablets, and Google Play Edition devices.
The thing that makes Lollipop special is the new Material Design. Its new visual design language is expected to make android shine above ahem Apple devices in particular. Android 5.0 also brings with it better notifications and better search features. Android 5.0 lolipop is Google’s first platform that is 64-bit processor ready. What will this leap in performance mean for gaming on Android devices and portable gaming in particular, still remains to be seen.
