Reports: Samsung and PayPal executive meet to discuss for Samsung Pay

Samsung seems to be making every possible move to get in its mobile payment system Samsung Pay soon in action. Recently, the company also bought out the LoopPay that is famously used in many of stores in US. In order to give a further boost to its project, PayPal founder Peter Theil and Samsung heir Lee Jay-yong had recently has a meeting at the company’s own owned hotel in South Korea Seoul. It is said that the negotiations between the two parties have been quite fruitful and the hour-long meeting is said to have clicked for Samsung Pay: “Samsung’s Lee may have asked for business advice from Thiel, who is an expert in fintech. Expectations are high that Samsung will soon launch a new competitor to Apple Pay.”

The Samsung Pay is reportedly being incorporated in the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S6 and the great thing is that at the start only it is supposed to work anywhere with the magnetic strip debit and credit card acceptance with over 10 million points worldwide.

The case for Apple Pay was that it required merchants o have their own dedicated POS terminals, which somewhat has been the reason for its low adoption but as Samsung might use the already established and widely accepted LoopPay system, the acceptance for its Samsung Pay is expected to be fast.

Apple Online Store extends support of PayPal in UK and US

It’s a good news for the Apple fans in US and UK as the company has arrived with a new payment option of PayPal on its Apple Online Store. PayPal is a world renowned money transfer website in different countries. This means that along with the option of paying through credit and debit cards, buyers can now even pay with PayPal. The icing on the cake is that new buyers can even opt for PayPal’s credit for up to 18 months of time period and that too absolutely interest free.

However, paying through PayPal is already an option for the Apple App Store and the iTunes store buy not its good to see this options getting extended even to the company’s Online Retail Store. However, for the moment this facility is only available in US and UK and we expect it to roll-out soon in other markets as well! This means that non US/UK residents can still buy from the Apple Online Store provided they are suitable with the shipping only in UK and US. We are sure that this new service would surely be helpful for all the Apple fans worldwide once Apple starts rolling it out on global basis.

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 likely to host retina scanner

Before the launch of Samsung’s premium flagship Galaxy S5 this year, there were rumors about the device would come with a retina sensor. However, upon launch the device sported a fingerprint scanner for biometric security. Now the company on its SamsungExynos Twitter account has released a teaser that shows a phablet device focusing on an eye and if the above image is observed very carefully, at the right hand side, you will see a list of bills with a pay button. This could possibly mean a PayPal integration with retina scanner just as we have it with a fingerprint scanner in the Galaxy S5.

Moreover, the tagline of the image is “Unlock the Future” which shows that the retina scanner could also be used for unlocking the device. Moreover, the Korean tech giant has also pioneered another of its eye-tracking-feature that prevents the screen from getting dim or locked when a user is still looking at the screen. Additionally the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is expected to host a 3.68MP primary camera according to AnTuTu, but it has to be seen that whether the company uses the same camera for secure retina scans or introduces a completely separate sensor for the job. Well, we would keep some patience till the IFA event to be held in Berlin this September when we expect the device to break covers.

PayPal to bring its official app to Android Wear devices

Online money transfer service PayPal has just announced that it is planning out to bring its official app on Android Wear devices. This announcement came after Google unveiled its wearable device OS Android Wear at the Google I/O last week followed up with the launch of LG G Watch and Samsung Gear Live. For the time being, the app would be rolled out through PayPal’s beta channel but would be ready by July 7 that is the official public release date for Android Wear.

PayPal is considered to be the first to venture into such services. The company has earlier been in this segments when it launched few dedicated apps for Samsung Gear 2 and Gear Fit. It seems that the wearable device OS from Google is soon to spread among major corporations like PayPal and others each of them having dedicated apps to solve their purpose in shortest possible time.

The above screenshot shows that PayPal on Android Wear will have swipable slides, just similar to the apps like Google Hangouts that were demoed earlier. With just a scroll or swipe to the right, user can receive messages on payments received or transactions made and much more.

eBay and PayPal Accounts Hacked:Change Your Password Now

Internet auction site eBay and PayPal posted a message up on its community page urging users to change their account passwords. The message concerned eBay and PayPal users. The company has finally stepped forward and clarified the situation. The company said, nothing that a hacker may have compromised a database containing encrypted password and only non-financial data had been affected.

It always poses a serious concern to users when a major organizations database is hacked, especially millions of accounts with links to finances. Though eBay called it a potential breach and no financial information are leaked, the situation gives a lot of reason for the users to worry.

The issue appears to be relatively less serious however it’s strongly recommended to change your eBay and PayPal accounts.

Recently the security issues have decreased comparatively as the companies are spending more on security. However the robust security software and products leaves a loophole at some point, after all it’s a human made software will always inherently be imperfect. eBay and PayPal service would probably sweep this incident under the sheet, meanwhile let’s keep the fingers crossed that any future security breaches or hacks are dealt in a more effective and serious manner than this one.

A company like eBay must avoid such incidents in the future any cost. The company should have a discussion with PR team and assure peace of mind to its users.

Finally the take away is, if you are an eBay or PayPal user; consider changing your password without any further delay. Always choose a strong password and change it on regular basis for added security. Better you make it not easy for a hacker to guess or crack into your account.
