Xiaomi has these days taken up the mobile industry with a storm. Xiaomi announces its MIUI 6 hosting some flatter look

According to plans, Chinese smartphone giant Xiaomi who recently launched its flagship Mi4 has yesterday went out announcing its latest OS-MIUI 6 which hosts minimalistic looks, enhanced security and some stunning new features. This update is at the moment in the beta phase of its development and would soon come to its flagship devices like the Mi3 and the Mi4. According to the company, the MIUI 6 is a very simpler UI and can be very easily familiarized with the user. Colors say a bit more story about the UI wherein many apps appear to be white or grey and are even colored in orange, red and other colors giving it a similar look to the iOS 7 and iOS 8.


Xiaomi has made its phonebook even more powerful which enables users to identify unknown callers, mark the service numbers like that of banks or carriers and much more. The notifications shade in the new MIUI 6 has been re-designed and comes with toggles for various settings and has even new gestures for the homescreen. The notification center can even show notifications on the lockscreen and a theme’s support for the UI is also therewith nearly over 5000 options. These days, there is big noise about the Chinese handset maker Xiaomi coming up with its this year’s premium flagship Xiaomi Mi4. Lei Jun, Xiaomi president has recently teased this flagship on his Weibo account. This Chinese smartphone manufacturer has now confirmed that the company will be hosting its annual product launch event at Beijing National Convention Center on July 22.

The press invitations are already out for the media and this stylish metal plate device give us a glimpse of the Xiaomi Mi3 successor. Xiaomi Mi4 is likely to come with a 5.2 inch Full HD display powered with a Snapdragon 801 or 805 chipset. Xiaomi enters into Indian markets with three news handsets – Mi 3,Redmi Note and Redmi 1S

Well, Xiaomi is certainly not new to us and we all know this famous smartphone maker from China. Well, if you are reading for the first time about Xiaomi, let us remind you that this is a China based smartphone making company and is one of the well-known companies known globally having its devices parked in the list of top ten selling smartphones of the world. Back in April, the company had announced its plans of entering the global markets starting from Singapore and now it has entered into the most potential smartphone market of India. Xiaomi has recently announced three of its premium handsets in the country namely the Xiaomi Mi3, Redmi Note and Redmi 1S and all these three come at extremely affordable rates.

The Xiaomi Mi3 hosts a 5inch Full HD display with 441ppi density. At its heart lies a powerful quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 SoC clocked at 2.3GHz with 2GB of RAM support and Adreno 330 for graphics support. The device has 16GB of internal memory but sadly doesn’t have any additional microSD card support. At its back lies a 13MP primary camera with autofocus and dual LED flash while its front hosts a 2MP secondary camera and both are capable of recording videos at 1080p. The device is just 8.1mm thick and has a aluminum-magnesium alloy built. It runs the latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat skinned with Xiaomi’s own MiUI over it. The device also offers a Mi Cloud support to keep all your data safe. The Xiaomi Mi 3 comes with a extremely battery capacity of 3050mAh.

On the other hand, the Redmi 1S sports a 4.7inch IPS display with a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 SoC clocked at 1.6GHz and a Adreno 305 GPU. Taking a look at the third device, the Redmi Note comes with a 5.5inch IPS display powered with a stunning octa-core MediaTek MT6592 processor clocked at 1.7GHz and a Mali-450 GPU support. The memory options for the device include 2GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage with microSD card slot, 13MP of primary camera having 1080p video recording, 5MP of secondary camera. The connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0. This device too runs the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean with MiUI and offers a battery capacity of 3100mAh.

Metal-clad Xiaomi Mi4 could be uncovered on 22 July

Chinese consumer electronics giant Xiaomi is about to launch a new generation flagship Mi series smartphone later this month.


Xiaomi CEO Bin Lei Jun posted a teaser image on Weibo, with a big numerical ’4′ covering the whole canvas, hinting at a new smartphone. It is most probably the fourth generation Mi-series smartphone, which might get uncovered on 22 July – the company’s annual product launch event.


The Xiaomi Facebook post’s tag line  “The journey of a piece of steel metal” – indirectly signals that the new Mi series smartphone may come with rust-resistant iron alloy body; a massive upgrade over its predecessor (Mi3) which had magnesium alloy body (with three layers of thermal graphite film).


As of now, there is no official word on the other features of Mi4 but if rumors are to believed, Xiaomi’s forthcoming phone is expected to feature a big 5.5-inch full HD 1080p display, Snapdragon 801 processor, 2GB RAM and MIUI OS based on Android 4.4 KitKat.

Xiaomi comes with a reputation of being China’s answer to Apple Inc. Its market share in the neighboring country has raised to 10 percent( courtesy PC World) within 2 years of entering the business, thanks to charasmatic founder & current CEO Lei Jun.


Earlier this week, Xiaomi forayed into the Indian smartphone market with the launch of Mi 3. Priced just under ₹15,000, the new Xiaomi Mi 3 is the cheapest full HD (1920x1080p) smartphone in the market.


The company’s exceptional success is attributed to Xiaomi’s strategy of incorporating high-end specifications and selling them for dirt-cheap prices. Xiaomi has roped in Manu Kumar Jain, Jabong (online retail-shop), co-founder to head the Indian division. The company has promised to launch more rich-featured devices in India in the coming days.

Xiaomi Mi3 Android 4.4 Developer Version Released

Android 4.4 developer version for the Xiaomi Mi3 has been released. Hugo Barra posted on his Google+ page, “We’ve just released the developer version of the Android 4.4 KitKat #MIUI_ROM for Mi 3.” The ROM can be downloaded from the company’s website which when flashed on the device to bring it to Android 4.4 KitKat developer version. It’s a developer version and they may be some bugs and of course it won’t matter for the users who are eager to test out the latest MIUI features.


The latest MIUI 4.5.9 (V5) ROM is of size 349 MB. Improvements and changes of this version are not limited to the below list.

Flashing Guide



  • Download the developer ROM version 4.5.9 (V5)

  • Connect the Xiaomi Mi3 to the computer and copy the downloaded ROM to the downloaded_rom folder of the SD card.

  • Open the Updater on the launcher, press the Menu button and then press Select installation file. Choose the downloaded ROM from the downloaded_rom folder.

  • Once the update has finished reboot the phone to complete the procedure.
