Galaxy S5 LTE-A gets exclusive new diamond patterned look

Recently Samsung unveiled an upgraded LTE-A version of the Galaxy S5 in it’s home country with some seriously improved specs. It is now turning out of the device with a slight redesign as well. South Korean carrier KT Telecom is apparently offering a diamond-patterned back panel for the Galaxy S5 variant.

Analysing the images we  can definitely see the new case is a step up from the spotty plastic Samsung introduced with the Galaxy S5, though it presumably still offers the same easy-to-grip texture. Under the hood, KT’s version of the S5 LTE-A offers some of the best specs on the market today, including a 5.1-inch quad HD display, a Snapdragon 805 processor, 3GB of RAM, a 16-megapixel camera and a 2800mAh battery.

Unfortunately the Galaxy S5 LTE-A is still only available in South Korea, though it should be possible to get your hands on one through the grey market if you try hard enough. Grabbing one of KT’s new back panels should be a bit easier. While you can already find a number of rear cover replacements for your S5 online, most don’t offer the rubber lining that makes the device water-resistant.

We are also hoping that Galaxy S5 LTE-A releasing in the U.S. and the rest of the world. Samsung is rumored to launch a premium metallic Galaxy F handset sometime this year and the upcoming Galaxy Note 4 is also expected to feature some high-end specs, so hopefully it won’t be long before we see the Koreans giants launching a Quad HD smartphone for the rest of the world to buy.

Samsung Galaxy S5 LTE-A Gets 2560x1440 Quad HD Display, Snapdragon 805

Samsung Electronics has launched a new variant of the Galaxy S5 with an upgraded screen and faster processor, but for now it is only available in South Korea. The launch of Samsung’s latest flagship smartphone back in February was preceded by an landslide of rumors and assumption about the device’s expected specification, including a Quad HD (QHD) screen with a resolution of 2560 by 1440 pixels, and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor.

Samsung introduced the Galaxy S5 LTE-A on Wednesday concluding all the rumours true. The upgraded smartphone features faster connectivity, higher resolution display and faster processor. QHD screen is based on the company’s Super AMOLED technology and measures 5.1 inches, for a density of 577 pixels per inch. In comparison, the original version of the Galaxy S5 that went on sale in April has the same screen size but with a resolution of only 1920 by 1080 pixels, equivalent to 432 pixels per inch.

The Galaxy S5 LTE-A sports a QHD Super AMOLED display (2560×1440), 2.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor, 3GB RAM, 16MP camera, 2,800mAh battery, and runs Android 4.4 “Kit Kat.” It is waterproof, dustproof (IP67) and supports LTE speeds up to 225Mbps. That’s still three times faster than current LTE speeds of 75Mbps in most regions around the world. The new version still has the same dimpled back made of plastic.

Currently, the Galaxy S5 LTE-A is available exclusively in South Korea, likely won’t come to the U.S and Europe. It will be initially available on SK Telecom for 940,500 South Korean Won ($919) and eventually on KT and LGU+. The phone will be available in Charcoal Black, Shimmering White, Electric Blue, Copper Gold, Sweet Pink, along with a special Glam Red version for SKT.

Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Note 4, which is rumored to launch later this fall, will likely include the same specs as the S5 LTE-A in a larger package.
