Smartwatches are trending, but the current lot of smartwatches available in the market has more utility value than style. Hewlett-Packard (HP) is now about to enter the fray with a stylish smartwatch. And the watch will not be just any other smartwatch for the tech geeks. It will be a smartwatch that will also make a fashion statement.
Yes, HP has partnered up with fashion designer Michael Bastian and the retailing company Gilt to create a fashionable fancy smartwatch. HP will handle the technical aspects, Michael Bastian will do the external designing of the watch and Gilt will take care of the sales.
The Hewlett-Packard smartwatch will be in a round shape having a 44mm stainless steel case with a multi-layered finish, inlaid button controls, unique bezel bolts and a lighted chronograph. It will have three interchangeable bands – Brown leather, Black rubber and Olive Green nylon. The limited edition watch will have a Black band. For designing the watch, Michael Bastian has taken inspiration from the interior of a luxury car such as dashboard and trim.
About the technical ‘smart’ aspect of the watch, HP will take care of the software including apps like notifications for text messages and emails, music control and getting updates for weather, news, sports, stocks and such things.
The HP watch would be compatible with both Android and iOS. The device is expected to hit the Gilt store this fall. There is no other information available regarding its pricing, display or working.
