Facebook has introduced a new photo sharing app Moments that enables smartphone users to share photos of an event privately with friends who are in those photos and also get photos of themselves from their friends’ mobiles easily.

Almost everyone has a smartphone these days and it has become easy to capture important moments of our lives on phone. In an event or a group outing, we see that everyone tries to capture the same group pics in their respective phones to have a copy for themselves otherwise they face the tedious task of contacting friends separately and take photos from them. And even if they do manage to get copies of some pics from friends, they find it difficult to organize these photos at one place in the phone. Now Facebook’s creative labs have come up with Moments, a standalone photo sharing app that makes all this easy and offers “A private way to share photos with friends.”

Moments app offers a quick and easy way to share photos using facial recognition technology to find who is in which photo and then groups them accordingly. It then allows you to sync the photos with those friends privately. Similarly, you can get back your own photos from them. On top of it, these synced photos get organized making it easy to search through them for specific photos.

Initially, Facebook has launched the Moments app only in the US but has plans to roll it out in other countries soon. The app is available for both Android and iOS devices and can be download from Google Play Store and iTunes respectively.

Google Goggles – One Must App To Have In Your Android Device

A Google Goggles is actually an app and it should not be mistaken with the Google Glass. This application was launched in the ending months of 2009 as an experimental app, and now it has been completed to help us in diverse ways.

Google Goggles is only available on Android, till last year it also existed on iOS. This app is not present as a built-in app but requires downloading and installation from Google Play to the device.

After downloading and running the app on the device, the user notices its interface is same as a camera app. Google Goggles runs with the help of camera, using the device’s camera the application identifies famous landmarks, logos, works of art and products, it is also capable of scanning QR codes and bar codes, it can check and translate text, and other than that it solves Sudoku puzzles.

QR codes get scanned up quickly but for that the Google Goggles must be running and the camera should be pointing towards code. The same function goes for the bar codes, but sometimes it is hard for the app to recognize them, then user should take a picture of the code so that it could be scanned.

The application is workable only with internet connection and it depends on user whether he uses it through Wi-Fi or using both cellular and Wi-Fi.

The application scans text best in good amount of light, if the light is not proper Goggles let you turn on Flash for better brightness. The text is cropped and then it is copied or translated, excluding English, Googles is capable of reading text in seven different languages, Turkish Russian, Portuguese, Spanish, German, Italian, and French.

App Review : Google Glass SHORE App To Read Human"s Emotion

The new app for Google Glass is designed to be able to read human’s emotion. Shore Human Emotion Detector (SHORE) was developed by researchers at Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits in Germany. Its capability includes ability to detect someone’s age, gender and basic emotions. The apps can gauge someone’s feeling based on the 10,000 number of annotated face records in the database. It is able to detect whether someone is happy, sad or angry among all the other type of emotion.

The software was built to help people with communicative disability, for example: autism, so that they can interact better in the society. Another usage of this app is for visually impaired people, so that the missing information can be relayed to the wearer by using audio playback. Fraunhofer emphasize that the app will not able to tell the person’s identity, it is only able to analyse and gauge someone’s feeling at that period of time. Furthermore, in attempt to protect the user’s privacy, the researchers have promised not to send any images or data to the cloud.

Although it has been tested by participating in the Google Glass Explorer Program, the researchers are yet to confirm the launch date of the product. In any case, their challenge is to solve the optimization issue and the ability to run the app in any platform or operating system.

Facebook"s Momentary Messaging App Slingshot Launches

Earlier this week, the social media network giant Facebook officially launched it’s momentary messaging or  self-destructing app Slingshot.

Slingshot allows you to send a video or a photo with captions to anyone that you want.  “Slingshot lets you quickly share moments—little and big—with lots of people at once”, the  App store description reads. The videos or photos that you send will self-destruct moments  after being viewed by the recipient.

The app appears to be very similar to Snapchat, an app that lets you share or send self-destructing photos to your friends. But what makes Facebook’s app different is that, when  you send a ‘shot’ (a picture or a video) to a friend of yours, “they won’t be able to see your shot  until they sling something back.” This is Facebook’s move to encourage users to create their own content instead of just consuming it. This is a major unique feature that lets the app stand out  from other similar apps including Snapchat.

Aside from that, the Snapchat-like app also lets you customize your messages by adding texts  or draw stuff over them using your  fingers before you send them.

The app is now available both for iOS and Android phone users alike on the iTunes Apple app  store and Google Play marketplace respectively. The app is free to download, requires iOS 7  or later and is optimzed for iPhone 5.

We remember that the app was taken down from the iTunes app store shortly after accidentally being  released a little over a week ago.
