Apple Rumored to Place Smaller Orders for Upcoming iPad Pro

It has been a long time since Apple is rumored to be working on a bigger version of iPad which most probably made to compete with Microsoft Surface 3 Pro in terms of productivity. However, this time, instead of going all out with the new product, it seems that Apple is taking a safer route by ordering lesser product components to the company’s supplier compared to what the market analyst has expected.

This move can be considered as the result of the weakening demand for tablets and the lesser sales of iPad compared to 5-inch smartphone.  Nowadays most users prefer a smartphone with a 5-inch display screen compared to a bigger inch tablets.  The upcoming iPad is rumored to be known as either iPad Pro or iPad Plus and it will have a 12.9-inch display screen.

The upcoming iPad is also rumored to feature a 2048 x 2732 resolution touch screen with the same ppi as iPad Air 2. The touch screen will also support Force Touch feature whereby it is a feature that can differentiate the pressure that the user put on the screen to perform different action depending on it. There also will be a USB3.1 with Type-C connector and a much more improved chipset as well as RAM. However, there is no confirmation whether it is going to be the final specifications or there will be changes later on.

Apple is reported to start mass-manufacturing the new iPad in late September and the launch is expected to be somewhere in mid-November.

Apple to release stylus compatible with 12.9-inch iPad Pro

The well-known Apple analyst Ming Chi-Luo is hanging his abacus at KGI Securities. He is famous for predicting the perfect analysis regarding the Apple products like iPad and iPhone in the past.

Kuo is now telling that Apple is going to release a stylus during the next quarter, probably compatible with the 12.9-inch Apple iPad Pro. He has predicted the arrival of new Apple product on the basis of numerous stylus patents applied by Apple in the past few months.

Steve Jobs might be spinning like a driedel by hearing the stylus update in his graveyard. No one can ever forget his review about stylus during launching of OG Apple iPhone in January 2007.

“Who wants a stylus? You have to get them and put them away and you lose them. Yuck. Nobody wants a stylus.”-Steve Jobs

Kuo added that stylus is more suitable than using a keyboard or mouse and also more accurate than a person’s finger. It might be available as a additional compatible accessory considering the budget factor of iPad Pro.

The analyst is not expecting any special features to stylus right now. However, gyroscope might be embedded in future products that allows to “write on air”. Also Lightning connector can be utilized by Stylus for charging purpose. Apple is targeting mainly corporate and education sectors for increasing the sales of iPad Pro along with stylus.

“We don’t foresee significant sales of an optional stylus in 2015 and forecast unit shipments of 2-2.5 million. But we believe that the stylus could improve the experience of users, however, and will likely help Apple develop specific customer groups such as the corporate sector and educational institutions.”-Ming Chi-Kuo, analyst, KGI Securities

The Upcoming 12.9-inch iPad Pro Production Rumored Delayed to Q2 2015

The upcoming Apple’s 12.9-inch iPad Pro will be delayed for mass production until the second quarter of 2015. The device is rumored to use an oxide panel in order to achieve a high resolution, quick response and high color saturation. With all these features, it might take awhile to yield the component and assembly it thus the mass production will be delayed until 2Q 2015.

Earlier this year, Bloomberg reported that the iPad Pro will be released in early 2015.  However, the latest report from The Wall Street Journal suggested that Apple has delayed the mass production to focus on producing more iphone 6 plus units leaving the potential iPad Pro release date unconfirmed.

Some of the information that we get for the new iPad Pro includes bigger display size at 12.9-inch display size and it will be running the same A8X processor as iPad Air 2 along with ultra high resolution display and a 7mm thick form factor that is similar to existing iPads.

The iPad shipments was predicted to fall 54.5 percent quarter after quarter to just 9.8 million units during the first calendar quarter of 2015 according to often-reliable KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. He also points out that the lack of new applications and the tablet saturation in the market as his basis for his prediction.

However, in the reality, Apple sold 16.35 millions of iPads during the first calendar quarter of 2014 but it is true that iPad sales have been down for the first three quarters in a row. For the fourth quarter of 2014, Apple sold 12.3 million iPads down from 14.1 million units in 2013.

Apple CEO Tim Cook the sales drop for iPad is only a “speed bump” that the company will overcome and suggested that significant innovations can be brought to the iPad and it looks like Apple is working towards it.
