Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3 pre-orders to begin from April 21, promo price $249.99

Alcatel had unveiled its reversible Idol 3 pair of smartphones at the MWC last month. The company has now announced that it will be accepting pre-orders for the phone starting April 21. The unique feature of Idol 3 is that you can take calls even when you hold it upside down.

The unlocked 5.5-inch version of Idol 3 will be available for pre-order for “online exclusive price” of $249.99, the MSRP of which is $279.00. Alcatel also said that they will begin shipping the device in May.

The 5.5-inch variant of Idol 3 smartphone features a 1920 x 1080p Full HD (443ppi) display. It is powered by 64-bit 1.7 GHz Qualcomm octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor and Adreno 405 GPU for graphics. The device features Technicolor Color Enhance technology for excellent colors, better visibility from all viewing angles and great outdoor readability.

         

In the memory department, there is a 2GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage. The handset has a 13MP rear camera, an 8MP front-facing cam with a wide 84⁰ viewing angle and a 2910 mAh battery. Its dimensions are 152.7 x 75.14 x 7.4mm and it weighs 140.7 grams.

Idol 3 has front-facing 1.2 W JBL stereo speakers offering on-the-go sound system and it will run Android 5.0.2 Lollipop out-of-the-box. Alcatel OneTouch claims that the device will support all GSM networks in the US including AT&T and T-Mobile.

Well, you can pre-order the 5.5-inch IDOL 3 online from Alcatel OneTouch’s US website at the asking price of $249.99 which is about $29 less than its MSRP of $279.  The company hasn’t yet announced the availability and pricing of the smaller 4.7-inch Idol 3 version.

Alcatel has done a lot of things to market its products across United States. One of them is selling unlocked devices directly to consumer on its website, like the ONETOUCH Idol X+ and ONETOUCH Idol 2S. Each of the smartphone is selling under $300 without any contract.

The watch will be priced at $149 and able to work with iPhone and Android smartphone. On top of that it has battery life of 3-to-5 days. To charge the device, you just need to unsnap the tip of the wrist band and plug it to a USB-2.0 port. The charging time will take an hour or less.

Alcatel ONETOUCH watch has the look of a traditional watch. From outside it does not look like a smartwatch, but it does have features that a smartwatch is supposed to have. It is able to provide notifications, activity monitoring, music controls and heart rate data. On top of that, it also has an altimeter, e-compass, NFC tag and IP67 water and dust resistant.

The display size is 1.22-inches in diameter and completely round, similar to Moto 360. There are a number of watch faces which you can choose for. It also comes with a camera. When you shake your wrist, it will activate your camera.

Alcatel smartwatch is able to connect to a smartphone running on Android 4.3 and iPhone with iOS 7 or later. Users who are interested to try the product is able to pre-order for ONETOUCH watch with a black wrist band now from the website. Other color will be available later this year.

Alcatel has managed to grab attention at this year’s MWC by announcing its flagship smartphone OneTouch IDOL 3. Firstly, it is a “pair” of smartphones and secondly, they come in screen sizes 4.7” and 5.5”, reminding us of Apple’s iPhone 6/6 Plus duo which has the same sized display screens.

Another unique feature of the IDOL 3 pair is that they are reversible! So when you are in a hurry, you don’t have to search which is the top side of the phone. You can grab it from any side and talk. When you pick the phone upside-down, its interface adjusts automatically.

Moving on to specs, the IDOL3, the bigger one boasts of a 5.5-inch 1080p Full HD IPS display powered by 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor. Memory options include a 2GB RAM and a 16GB or 32GB internal storage. Its Technicolor Color Enhance technology provides excellent color rendering, better visibility from all angles and its luminosity offers crystal clear outdoor readability even in bright sunlight.

The handset has a 13MP rear camera with a large aperture to get best pictures even in low light and an 8MP selfie camera with a wide 84 degree viewing angle. Its Fast Face Focus software can detect faces in just 0.26 seconds. A 2910 mAh battery resides in a 7.7 mm thin body. Dual hi-fi front speakers and JBL audio with Clari-Fi technology provide a great 3D surround sound experience.

The smaller IDOL 3 handset is a little downgraded version of the bigger one. Apart from the 4.7-inch 720p HD screen, it has a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor, a selfie camera of only 5MP and a smaller 2000mAh battery.

Both the IDOL 3 handsets offer 4G LTE and will carry Android Lollipop out-of-the-box. Alcatel hasn’t said anything about release date and pricing yet.

The Smartphone has no EUR 350 price tag because of the outstanding features and available soon for the users.

There are a few quad-HD (2560×1440) display smartphones in the market and Alcatel’s One Touch D820 is going to be one them. So this lands One Touch D820 in direct a competition with phones like Oppo Find 7, Vivo Xplay 3S, and the new LG G3. The phone would be soon in the market and its specs were leaked by GFXBench website.

The prime feature of the phone is its 4.6 inch QHD resolution screen. The phone runs latest Android 4.4.2 Kitkat powered by MediaTek MT6595 quad-core chipset. There are still no details on release date or pricing by Alcatel. But the French manufacturer wants to make it big in smartphone industry by launching One Touch DB820.
