Huawei P8 Lite launched officially; India to get Huawei P8, P8 Max, P8 Lite, MediaPad X2 and TalkBand B2 in Q3

Huawei introduced its Huawei P8 and P8 Max smartphones in April this year. A third smartphone Huawei P8 Lite was also expected to be unveiled at the time but that didn’t happen. However, the P8 Lite was later released in Germany and Hungary and was priced at about $270. Now Huawei P8 Lite has been made official by the company at its South East Asia (SEA) launch event held in Bangkok.

At the event, the Chinese giant showcased its latest flagship smartphone P8 along with its two variants P8 Max and P8 Lite as well as MediaPad X2, Watch W1 and TalkBand B2.

The Huawei P8 Lite is a dual SIM smartphone that comes with a 5-inch, 1280 x 720 pixels resolution display and is powered by a 64-bit HiSilicon Kirin 620 chipset with octa-core 1.2GHz CPU and a Mali 450 MP4 GPU for graphics. Inside, it has a 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage. It doesn’t have a separate slot for microSD card but the second SIM slot works as a microSD card slot.

There is a 13MP BSI camera at the back and a 5MP camera at the front for selfies and video chats. The device runs on a 2200mAh battery and comes with pre-installed Android 5.0.2 lollipop with Huawei’s own EMUI 3.1 skin on top. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.1 LE, Wi-Fi and NFC. The Huawei P8 Lite dimensions are 143.0 x 70.6 x 7.7mm and it weighs 131 grams. The handset is available in 3 color options – Black, White and Gold.

At the event, Huawei also announced that the Huawei P8, P8 Max, P8 Lite and the Huawei MediaPad X2 will be launched in India in the third quarter of 2015. According to the company, Huawei P8 will not be joining the price war and will cost about $455 while the P8 Lite is a budget phone falling in the mid-range price segment. The TalkBand B2 which is a fitness tracker-cum-Bluetooth earpiece, is expected to arrive in India in June and cost about $235.

The Huawei P8 and its Lite variant the Huawei P8 Lite is to go official on the 15^th of April at an event scheduled in London. This time we have got some of the press shots of the two handsets along with some details regarding its specs.

The Huawei P8 will have a 5.2” full HD display with 1080p resolution. Under the hood would be company latest powerful Kirin 930 octa-core chipset supported with 3GB of RAM memory. The device will have a 32GB of internal storage along with a microSD card slot for expandable memory. To its back, the device would be having a 13MP primary camera and to its front would be an 8MP secondary camera. The device will have a good 2520mAh of battery capacity. Additionally the device would be offering a 4G dual SIM dual standby connectivity.

On the other hand, the lighter variant the Huawei P8 Lite will be having a 5” display with 720p resolution. The device would be having a Kirin 620 chipset clocked at 1.2GHz and a 2GB of RAM memory. The internal storage would be 16GB and the front and the rear camera would be 5MP and 8MP respectively. The device thickness would be 7.7mm and the battery capacity would be 2200mAh.

The original Huawei P8 is said to have a 6.4mm of thickness and made with a metal and glass body. The pricing is said to be around $480 USD. Another Platinum Edition of the Huawei P8 would come with a sapphire glass both to its front and back priced for $800 USD.

Since past month, there have been quite a lot of rumors regarding the upcoming Huawei P8 which is likely to break covers at the 15^th of this month at an special event in London. Now further, a tweet from one of the tipster @rquandt has confirmed the existence of this device called as Huawei P8 Lite by showing some of the renders for the device. However, the tipster has said that these are the official renders from the European distributor.

Earlier we has seen the design drawings of the handset getting leaked showing up the dimensions for the device. We would here take back a look at what the device has to offer. The Huawei P8 is likely to have a 5-inch display with 720 x 1280 pixel resolution. Under the hood, there would be powerful Kirin 620 chipset clocked at 1.2GHz. The device would be having a 2GB of RAM memory with 16GB of native internal storage. To its back, the device would be hosting a 13MP of primary camera and the front would be having a 5MP of secondary camera. The handset is said to be just 7.7mm thin and would be weighing 131 grams.

The Huawei P8 is likely to go official on the 15^th of April in London. The handset is expected to host specs like a 5.2inch screen shielded by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 having a display resolution of 1080×1920 pixels. The pixel density is good enough with 424 ppi. Under the hood is expected to be a 64-bit octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 930 CPU supported with 3GB of RAM memory and 32GB of internal storage. The rear camera is 13MP which comes with OIS. The device is also said to have a fingerprint sensor and would be running the Android 5.0 Lollipop. The battery juice for the device is assumed to be 2600mAh.

However, a recent tweet by Antonio Monaco – tech journalist suggest that there might be two variants of the Huawei P8 during the launch in April. The tech journalist says that the company could come with a “Lite” model in addition to regular version.

V/ery much obvious that the “Lite” version of the handset would be having some dropped down specs with 72op pixel resolution with 2GB of RAM. The fingerprint scanner might not be present while a 13MP can be expected as many mid-range handsets these days offer it. The regular version of the handset is expected to be somewhere around $480.
