Microsoft Skype Browser-Based Version Has Launched

Microsoft has launched Skype for Web which is meant to be accessed through browsers and thus eliminating the need for downloading and installing its client. It is available in a form of beta now and it works on Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Safari and Internet Explorer.

Before the beta released, Skype was already available for use on computers, mobile phones, TVs and even game consoles. With the Skype for Web released, it will be reaching more people. On separate news, Microsoft reported that over 2 billion minutes ( more than 33 million hours) of voice and video calls are being used every day,

The browser version is simple to use.  All you need to do is to visit Skype website and sign into your account. Your contacts, chats and everything else will be quickly synced and you will be ready to use it immediately without the hassle of downloading and installing it. The chats will be available readily however, voice and video calls will need you to install a small plug-in for now. However, the company is working to remove this requirement in the future.

The final version of Skype will be made available in the coming months. You can look out for an invite whenever you sign into your account.
