6 common problems with the Samsung Galaxy S5 and how to fix them





Samsung Galaxy S5 is one of the most wanted phones right now but it seems that users of the Samsung Galaxy S5 have been experiencing some problems with their phones. These problems are very rare so don’t worry of you already own one of these or if you want to buy one in the future. Chances that you will experience these problems are quite slim. Here are some of those problems and ways to fix them.








The Phone Won’t Turn On

If the phone won’t turn on then try on of the following:



  • Make sure that the battery is securely inserted into the phone. The pins on the phone should be making contact with the battery’s terminals.

  • Turn the phone off and on again.

  • If the phone turns on then go to Settings > Accessibility > Vision > Dark Screen. Make sure that Dark Screen has been turned off.

  • Remove the protective cover of the phone to make sure that no buttons are being pressed and no excessive pressure is being put on the phone.

  • Backup your files and try using Factory Reset to reset the phone (explained at the end of this article).

If the phone is not charging or if it charges very slowly, try one of the following:



  • Make sure to use a standard wall charger and the correct USB wire. It is best to use the stuff that came with the phone.

  • Check to see if the power outlet is working by using other power outlets.

  • Check to see if the USB cable is working by connecting the USB wire to a computer. If the phone starts charging then the wire is probably okay. In that case there’s something wrong with the wall charger, get it replaced.

Wifi problems are pretty common on many smartphones. If a Wifi related problem happens with your Samsung Galaxy S5, then follow these instructions.



  • Turn the wireless router and your phone off and on again.

  • Your phone should not be in power saver mode.

  • Go to Settings > Wifi. From there, select the Wifi connection’s name that you want to connect to and choose forget. Now connect to this connection again, you will need the wifi password this time.

  • Try a different wifi network to make sure if there’s a problem with your other wifi connection.

If the touchscreen stops responding, then you can try one of the following:









  • The problem might have started because of the screen cover or screen guard. Remove it and see if the screen starts working again.

  • Turn the phone off and on again by long-pressing the Power button until the phone turns off. Now turn it on again and see what happens.

  • Go to Settings > Display and see if increasing Touch Sensitivity helps.

  • Clean the screen with a microfiber cloth.

  • Try using Factory Reset to reset the phone after backing up all your data (using factory reset is explained at the end of this article).

  • If none of the above helps then go to your retailer or contact Samsung to request a replacement.


Bluetooth Is not Working

  • Go to AppsSettingsApplication ManagerBluetooth > select Force Stop. Now choose to Clear cache and then restart the phone.

In these problems the caller cannot be heard on the other side or the caller cannot hear what the person on the other side is saying. Here’s how to fix it:



  • Turn off the phone by long-pressing the Power key, and remove the phone’s back cover. Take out the battery and the SIM card, and leave the phone for 10 minutes. Replace the SIM, the battery, the back cover and turn the phone on again.

  • Make sure that the microphone hole on the Samsung Galaxy S5 is clear. Blow some air in it to make sure that there is nothing blocking the hole.


  • Clear the Cache Partition of the Samsung Galaxy S5 (explained at the end of this article).

  • Turn Bluetooth off on your phone.

  • If the problem persists then contact Samsung or your retailer for a replacement.

  • Use the Volume down button to navigate to factory reset/wipe data

  • Press the Power Button to select the option

  • Select Yes using Volume down and the Power button

  • Select the Reboot option to restart your phone


Starting The Phone In Safe Mode



  • With the phone off, turn it on using the Power key

  • Hold down Volume down when the Samsung logo appears.


How To Clear the Cache Partition Of Galaxy S5



  • With the phone off, press the Home button, Volume up and Power button at the same time

  • You will see an Android appear on the screen

  • Press the Volume down key to select wipe cache partition

  • Press the Power Button to select the option

  • Follow the instructions to complete the process.
