Vivo X5 Max goes official as the thinnest smartphone with 0.15in thickness: Official Images

Chinese handset maker Vivo yesterday officially announced its much awaited and rumored Vivo X5 Max an untra-thin smartphone measuring just 3.98mm thickness or just 0.15in. This is now the thinnest handset in the market having an official existence. Vivo certainly has its competitors in line like the Oppo R5.

However, in order to make this possible, the design team along with engineers at Vivo had to work very articulately with fine cutting of its corners. The motherboard under the hood is only 1.7mm thick(0.067in) and the entire screen assembly packs within just 1.36mm thickness along with “the world’s thinnest speaker box” measuring 2.45mm of thickness. Well, the impressive part is that even after cutting size to this short, the device still offers dual-SIM support with a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Looking to its other specs, the Vivo X5 Max offers a 5.5inch Super AMOLED display with 1080p screen and runs the Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa-core chipset clocked at 1.7GHz. the memory options include a 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage. To its back lies a 13MP primary camera while the front hosts a 5MP secondary camera. The device also bakes an Yamaha YSS-205X chip to control sound. The device runs the Android 4.4 KitKat skinned with the Funtouch OS 2.0.

The handset is likely to go on sale this December 22nd with a price tag of $486. Take a look at all the official images of the handset.
