Android Products Will Come Pre-Installed Microsoft Apps as Microsoft Lowering Patent Fee

It is not surprising that Microsoft has patented a lot of things. One of the patents that even an Android device used nowadays is the FAT file system which is used by microSD cards. Android devices’ memory can be expanded by using an external storage which normally using microSD cards, provided it is allowed by the manufacturer.

Samsung is one of the smartphone manufacturers which are running on Android as the operating system as well as able to use microSD to expand its storage. With two latest smartphones released from Samsung this year, Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, they will come pre-installed with Microsoft apps such as Microsoft OneDrive, OneNote and Skype. On top of that, Samsung’s upcoming tablets which are going to be released in 2015 will come pre-installed with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, OneDrive and Skype.

Apparently Microsoft has lowered the patent fee to use the company’s products on the Android devices. It seems like most of the source of income for Microsoft comes from the patent licensing fees from Android devices.  Microsoft currently has made a deal with 11 different device makers; one of them is Samsung, Dell as well as Pegatron Technology. However, there is no confirmation who is the rest of the manufacturers.  It seems like we are going to see a lot of Android devices which comes with pre-installed Microsoft apps starting on this year onwards.
