Samsung Exynos 7 Octa-core Chip offers 57% Gain from Its Predecessors

Samsung announced the company’s latest Exynos 7 Octa processor which designed to bring improvement data processing of intensive applications in daily mobile computing. It will bring a new level of experience to the high-resolution high-end games, image/video processing, security solutions such as face/eye recognition, augmented reality and more.

The processor also implements big.LITTLE Heterogeneous Multi Processing (HMP) which maximizes the CPU performance. This technology combined with ARM Cortex-A57 cores and Cortex-A53 is providing 57% more CPU performance than its previous generation of Exynos, Exynos 5 Octa. Exynos 5 Octa is used to power up Samsung Galaxy Note 4.

It seems like even though the SoC offers high resolution displays (WQHD and WQXGA), it also promises to consume less power to manage the display panels. The Advanced Multimedia Codec (MFC) will allow the user to output UHD videos to the TV. Moreover, the built-in dual Image Signal Processor (SIP) allows the smartphone to simultaneously record high resolution video or pictures using both rear and front camera. The rear camera can support up to 16MP with 30fps while the front camera can support up to 5MP with 30fps.

On top of that the upgraded Mali T-760 GPU will provide users with 74% increase in graphics performance. Note that the Exynos 5 is using the same GPU, it is just that this is the “upgraded” version of it.

Our first impression for the SoC is that it is similar to Exynos 5 but well, we can be wrong. Let us just patiently wait for the official release of the manufacturer so that we can know better what the difference between Exynos 5 and Exynos 7 is.
