Design and a Quad HD display resolution

This is for the first time that Google has ventured to a large screen phablet display and seems to be keeping in line with Google’s new diversity punch line ‘be together, not the same’ campaign. Just to your information, this is the Motorola made Nexus 6 and is very much identical to the recently launched Moto X 2014 Edition. However, still some differences do exist first and foremost with the 5.9inch display of the Nexus 6 that is larger compared to the 5inch display of Moto X and other subtle changes include the Nexus 6 to be having a curved screen edges and falls on a bit heavier side weighing 6.5 ounces.

Another good thing that comes along are the dual front-firing speakers which Google claims it to be giving ‘high-fidelity sound’. The device is also tipped to be water resistant that could overcome splashes but could not be submerged in water. The Nexus 6 that is given the codename “Shamu” stays in line with its larger 5.9inch display. The screen offers Quad HD resolution of 1440×2560 pixels producing very sharp images.

The main thing for which everyone waited: Android 5.0 Lollipop

Android 5.0 Lollipop

Just like every year, this time too Google has announced its new OS the Android 5.0 Lollipop. Well, needless to say the Material Design is certainly one of the majorly changed design by Google till date. The Material Design hosts some pretty flat shapes with some convey structures. The Dalvik has now been replaced with the new ART runtime. This is a 64-bit platform that is ready to transfer the existing Java apps to 64 bits without any major efforts made by the developer.

A powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset and stunning 13MP primary camera

The Nexus 6 has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset baked to its heart, one of the most powerful 32-bit chipset from Qualcomm. This is basically a quad-core processor clocked at whopping 2.7GHz and comes with a 3GB of RAM support and Adreno 420 for powerful graphics. The top-end GPU is capable of easily and butterly handling all the intensive graphic tasks at absolute ease. Well, with the 32-bit processor in place, the handset will still not be able to unleash all the 64-bit optimizations that come along with Android L. the god thing about the storage is that the basic version for the device starts with a 32GB of storage option.

The primary camera for the Nexus 6 has been now topped to 13 megapixel from the 8MP found in Nexus 5. However, Google seemed to have kept the same metrics for optical image stabilization as they had for the Nexus 5. The new camera for the Nexus 6 uses the Sony IMX 214 image sensor that is the latest from Sony having f/2.0 aperture. The camera is capable of shooting 4K videos at 30fps along with fullHD 1080p videos. the secondary front-facing for the device is 2.1 mega-pixel.

Battery backup, pricing and release date

Nexus 6 Turbo Charger

With the increase in the size of the device, Google has made sure that it offer even battery juice that could meet all the high-end specs in all segments with ease and for longer hours of operation. The Nexus 6 has an excellent 3200mAh of battery back-up. The battery drain that was considered to be a major issue for all the previous Nexus handsets has now been overcome with this model as the new Nexus phablet comes with Turbo Charger that is capable of offering 6 hours of usage charging in just mere 15 minutes.

The handset is likely to go on pre-order on 29th of October and is likely to be made available in stores fro the 3rd of November. The device is also said to be coming off-contract and unlocked for a retail price of $649. Now this might bring a bit disappointment to all the Nexus fans as the major USP for the Nexus devices all these years has turned out to be its pricing!

The handset would be made available on several US carriers like Sprint, US Cellular, AT&T, Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile. Take a look at the official video released by the company.
