Google officially announces Spiral 2 as the first Project Ara model to go on sale

With the start of 2015, we are sure that Google fans would be eyeing on the most awaited project from the search giant for mudular smartphone aka the Project Ara. Last week, on January 14th at the Project Ara Developers Conference in Mountain View, Google went out announcing the Spiral 2 as the first Project Ara model to go on sale. As we know that Project Ara aims at making affordable smartphones with modular hardware, we expect the Spiral 2 to be having flagship alike specs. The Sprial 2 is tipped to have a 720×1280 pixel resolution and would host a dual processor that would include the powerful NVIDIA Tegra K1 and the Marvell PXA1928. The device is also said to have a 5MP camera on-board and would host some few connectivity options like Wi-Fi, 3G and Bluetooth.


The battery capacity is said to be a bit lesser as compared to the average smartphone cell. The Spiral 2 handset is currently said to have 11 different working modules that could possibly the 30 figure by the year end. Reportedly, there will also be a module that would feature improved camera and the other for 4G LTE connectivity. The Spiral 2 will go on sale in Puerto Rico later this year. Talks for the Spiral 3 are already going on that would feature longer lasting battery along with LTE connectivity.
