Samsung to launch first AMOLED-equipped tablets at Galaxy Premiere event

Samsung just announced that it’s going to host a “Premiere” event on June 12 in New York. The invitation tagline-– “Tab Into Color” clearly hinting a upcoming AMOLED tablets on the agenda. This upcoming event will take place at Madison Square Garden in New York City starting from 18:00 local time on June 12. The event will even be livestreamed on Samsung’s YouTube channel.

The Korean manufacturer is expected to launch  new Galaxy Tab S series  including 10.5 inch and 8.4 inch AMOLED tablets, with a 13.3 inch (non-AMOLED) tablet being leaked out recently as well. Both are high-end products that will reportedly use Samsung’s latest octa-core Exynos 5420 processor, while their AMOLED displays should have 2,560 x 1,600 pixel resolutions. Android 4.4 KitKat, Magazine UX and 3GB of RAM are also expected to be among their features. Design-wise, the tablets seem to borrow elements from Samsung’s Galaxy S5 flagship smartphone, featuring a fingerprint scanner integrated into the home button, and will come in Wi-Fi and LTE variants, at least at launch.

Samsung is releasing an AMOLED tablets after a long time  since the Galaxy 7.7 back in 2011. Samsung is applying  “flood the market” strategy  by already launching seven tablets this year with three Galaxy Tab Pro devices, the Galaxy Note Pro as well as the three Galaxy Tab 4 tablets recently. So it will be interesting to see where these new tablets will fit in given that the company has already crowded the midrange and high end market segments with the above mentioned tablets.
